INVITING SOMEONE WITH A GUEST...

Original post by Aristotelina

So, my best friend and I were talking about a mutual single friend that we have and the subject of inviting single friends to the wedding with guests came up.

My best friend said that it's 'wrong' to not invite a single person with a guest that is over 30. I totally disagreed and she said that she thought it was 'bad etiquette' to not. I totally got all pissy because I took it personally but I still don't care--I am not inviting single people to my wedding with guests. Not because I want to be b*tchy, but just because I do NOT have the room.

And plus, I kinda don't want just random people at my wedding--I dunno.

what is YOUR stance on this issue?

im going through this right now too

my room holds a max of 140 but i dont want more than 125 just for comfort issues. FH has a lot of family....and most of our friends are single....why do i want some random schmo at my wedding?

in our case, we feel like our friend will not bring randoms...who wants to entertain a random person at their friends wedding anyway?

I feel the same way you feel. I do not want a bunch of random people that we do not know at our wedding. Since my family is huge and we are on a budget, I am only inviting people who are married or dating for a very long time with their significant other.

There are certain people who we will invite with a guest since they will not know anyone else. Thats a different story.

If you don't have the room than don't worry about it. I will be inviting with a guest because majority of our friends and family are in relationships so it won't affect our head count that much.

I am glad I am not alone.

Now I don't feel so bad.

i'm only having about 120 and want to keep it that way....many guy friends never have gf's and we are just inviting them without guests (there are about 10 of them)....i honestly don't care if it's bad haha but they do know every other friend that was invited so that's prob. why I don't care
but I would prob. invite a single person w/ a guest if they did not know anyone else b/c then I would feel bad.....I am telling these guys ahead of time about the situation though, so they have a heads up and will understand my reasoning

I think if there are single guests that all know each other (for example, 4 coworkers) than it might be ok.
I know I would be insulted and not really want to go to a wedding where I wasn't invited with someone. But if I was gonna have my single friends all there it would lessen the grief a bit.

I say invite them with a guest and give them the option.

I am inviting coworkers w/o guests cause of space & money issues. But they all understand that we both have a huge family. And A few yrs ago I was invited 2 a wedding alone & I didn't know anyone so I just made new friends with the people @ my table.

Since we're paying for the wedding ourselves, we aren't inviting guests unless it's a serious boyfriend/girlfriend or fiance. With that said, my single friends are all friends with one another so they won't care that they aren't bringing someone.
