Does anyone know if you're supposed to invite your officiant to your reception? We are getting married at our venue, and weren't sure proper etiquette. I always thought you were supposed too, but does anyone know how exactly you extend the invitation for them to stay? TIA

I just read something about this yesterday. Proper etiquette says you’re supposed to send them an invite and extend it to their spouses as well. I had NO idea. I hope my officiant doesn’t think I’m rude. I’m going to have to send one or email her or something to explain.

I've never heard of this either, hmmmmm. Also, how much are you ladies planning on tipping your officiant?

Our Rabbi is my FH's cousin. So she would've been there anyway. BUT, I don't think it's necessary to extend the invite unless you have a connection with the person. They're doing a service. You don't HAVE to invite him/her. Apparently it is proper etiquette to invite, but he or she will probably say no. I would also ask your venue if they provide food at a discounted rate for vendors. Ours provides food at a lower rate, so I would assume your officiant would fall under the same rate as you would get for food for photographers, videographers, and band/DJ.

Thanks ladies. I know we could get her the vendor discount, just not sure what we are supposed to do. She knew FH, they went to HS together and this is the first time in years they are speaking so it's tricky. As for tipping, I don't think we are tipping her because our fee is a donation to her temple, it doesn't go directly to her and she made some comment about not being able to accept money. Not sure if that's standard.
