Is 12 at a table too crowded?

Hi, ladies,

Well, we did the seating arrangements last night and everything works out pretty well, except FMIL's brothers & sisters all at one table make 12. The hall said 8-12 at a table but I feel like they'll be crowded with that many at one table. What do you think? Was going to see if I can break down her table & the brother/sister table into three tables of 8 instead, but that would mean taking her one sister & husband away from her table. Hopefully, it won't be an issue.

Also, I'm going to call hall today but do you think they would have smaller tables available? Because my Mom's table only comes out to 6 people and the kid's table will only be 6 also.

I dont think it would be too crowded or else it wouldn't be an option to have 12 people. The reception hall doesn't want to piss people off by squishing them!

at the VYC we actually had 13 people at some tables and it still wasn't crowded.

I guess it depends, I am going to be doing 10 tops @ a table I went to a wedding a few weeks ago and there were 14 at our table and it was UNCOMFORTABLE!

I'm having some tables of 12, my hall has two tables that can fit 14 and I'm using one of those for a table of 13.

our hall also told us 8-12 for each table... we maxed out a few of them and they were all still spacious. They can probably fit even more but they tell you up to 12 so it wont be too tight. I think youll be fine!

i have the same concern.. our hall can fit 10-12. and i would love to do 12 to a table but im afraid if its going to be too tight.

I'd check with the hall - our hall has 3 different size tables (8-10, 10-12 & 12-14) and they bring in the ones that we need...if your hall does that, then I think it shouldn't be a problem

i think it depends on the hall. i got married at wcc an i had a few tables of 12 and they were crowded.

You should ask your hall! Ours says 10 is the Max per table. So I think it depends.

Thanks, ladies; I'm going to see if I can go in there this Sat. AM and see the size of the tables.

We're having 16 at a table...so I don't think 12 will be crowded at all!

For my hall, a table of 8 is the smaller table and table of 10 or above is the bigger size table. Just make sure that your hall is providing you with the bigger size table if it's table of 12. I'm assuming you are talking about the round table instead of the oval.

If they say 12, it will fit.

If you hall says you can put 12 at a table then it will be fine. We were 12 at my table at Nina and Peter's wedding and there was plenty of room. No one felt crowded or squished in.

It should be fine- it'll pobally be a bigger table. I was told I could have anywhere from 6-14 at a table. There were 3 different sized tables that they used. So my table of 6 and my table of 14 all had the same amount of room!

I think you'll be fine, we're having a bunch of 12 person tables too.
