is 9am too early for a wedding ceremony?

Original post by cleokizzy

thinking of holding our ceremony at 9am instead of 10 because i don't want to feel rushed from the ceremony to the reception which starts at 12 noon.

whats your thoughts? do you think people will mind?

I'm stressing over an 11:30-12 ceremony so I think 9 is too early. You're going to have to be up at like 5 am to do your hair etc...and people have to travel. I say leave it at 10.

I was up at 5 for an 11:30 ceremony.... She will have to be up WAYYYYYY earlier than that... I had 2 girls working on me and the bp... which consisted of 3 girls hair, plus mine and my moms hair...

I'm going to be honest and say that I probably wouldn't go to the ceremony if it was that early. JMO.

Also, for a 9am start....your hair and m/u person (depending on your bridal party size etc) would have to start around 3 or 4 am....would they even do that? And would your bridal party be okay with it?

I say keep it for 10

Yes 9am is too early. I agree with the other bride-if i was invited to a 9am wedding i would most likely go to the reception only

From a guest's point of view, I'd probably be a little surprised that it was so early HOWEVER it's a very important event and I would go.

Seriously, if it were a funeral at 9 a.m. people would go. I don't see why it should be any different.

Plus, it's not like your reception starts at, say, 4 p.m. It starts at noon. IMO, I'd be all like 'sweet, let's see them get married, then hit up some IHOP for awhile, then head to the party!'

On the flipside, from a bride's point of view, you may have to get up HELLA early to get ready. One extra hour of sleep in the morning can be a precious thing.

In the end, do what's right for you and your FH. The people who mean the most to you will be there, no matter the time.

I think that 9am is a little early. People will most likely end up only going to the reception...

Ours was scheduled to start at 10, and THAT was too early. i didn't walk down the aisle until 10:15. we were done by 11, and too timber point by 11:30, and we took pictures into half our cocktail hour.

i really wouldn't make it at 9am, that is too early

Yes, I think 9am is too early, you may get alot of people arriving late to the ceremony or some may not show up at all.
