I'm going to keep trying hard to plan with all your great ideas and I'll try to keep everyone posted to let you know if it's actually possible.

Re: Is a $5000 wedding possible?
Have you considered a destination wedding? Not sure how much they cost but we considered doing that to save money...
By the time we get married we will have been engaged for 2 years so that we could save money... honestly we haven't really saved money lol but it did make it more possible to book vendors and spread out payments.
If you are good at doing things yourself you can definitely find a way to make it work!

Redrose0605- Those sites are great! Thanks for suggesting them.
I've actually eliminated flowers from my list. I'm opting for a non-traditional bouquet (http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/article/laura-butterfly-bouquet) and I only have a MOH either she will get a smaller version of what I pick or we can just get her a small bunch of flowers the day before the wedding.
I'm also going with non-floral centerpieces made by an army of DIY friend and family members.

Honestly, it really depends on what you want. But I do know that a lot of reception halls run deals on weddings for 100 people during the winter (but you might want to move your date a tad later as to not compete for flowers with Valentines Day.).
From what I've read, the hors d'oeuvres and cake reception is probably one of the least expensive you can do. And you'll have to be careful with things like shopping for the dress (mine was over $5k alone, but I save my own money for it).
And you can check out Kiss My Tulle , Cris has a lot of good ideas about weddings on a budget and I believe she's also affiliated with Big Day For 10K and they feature weddings on a budget, so you can get some ideas there.
Good Luck!

NP. Are you on Twitter or Facebook? There are so many wedding blogs, with so many really great ideas for all kinds of weddings. theknottybride is one of my favorites and bridetide is another good one.
For your bouquet, have you looked into paper flowers at all, I'm pretty sure you can find some DIY projects on those too.
My wedding budget is much larger than yours, but the cost is being split 4 ways (us and 3 sets of parents), but FH and I are pretty creative people so we're trying to DIY somethings. I plan on making my BM's earrings and FH designed our StD, and all the stationary, besides our invitations (it helps that he's a graphic designer).
Oh, and I don't think anyone else mentioned this, if you are inviting 100 people, most say that you should expect about 30% to decline, so your actual attendance would be around 70 people. And the smaller your guest list the less you'll spend, just make sure that if you do have it at a RH that you are able to meet the minimum number they require or you'll get stuck paying for the extra plates.
Good luck with your budget. And if you have any more questions feel free to FM me.

backyard wedding - our Engagement party was a little more then that but if you make most of the food instead of catering you can do it!
