My RH does an add on called the 'Jazz & Blues club' where they do the CH room really cute w candles & stuff. For an extra $20pp we can have the following:
Sensational Sweets French & Italian pastries & tarts Assorted fingertip tea cookies Variety of signature truffles and chocolates
Bakery Bar Fresh baked pies & specialty cakes (assorted)
Fab Fondue Fountain Choco fountain w. pretzel rods, oreo cookies, marshmallows, graham crackers, rice crispy treats & fruits
Belgian Waffle Station Fresh prepared belgian waffles prep'd for your guest w whipped cream & strawberries
Cookies & Milk Fresh baked choco chip & oatmeal cookies prep'd in tabletop oven served w cold milk & chocolate milk
Cold Fresh Fruit Display Baskets of grapes, strawberries, cherries , blueberries w seasonal fresh fruits incl. melon kiwi peaches plums pineapples Fresh berries & whipped cream served in a crystal goblet
Cordial Bar Brandy Port & liquers served in large brandy snifters
Int'l Coffee Station Cappuccino espresso irish or jamaican coffee
Cigar Bar Hand rolled cigars by pro cigar makers
My q is this: my reception is already from 7 to 12pm -- is to extend to 1am too long? Will ppl leave? Also is this worth $20 pp? I think it is especially w the cigar roller. My RH only does Vienesse for 30 mins & its $15pp -- not worth it!!
I love this idea but trying to gauge if it will be worth it
Also I have to choose between this or a photo booth...which would you choose??
Also my wedding is a Friday night
Thanks in advance!!!
Sorry so long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

do the photo booth!!!! that will give you memories for YEARS to come...
a piece of advice i was given by a close friend....
she paid 19 bucks extra for her vienesse hour (about 10 years ago) and by the time they opened it - it was after the cake and guess what? MOST of her guests were gone. She paid all that money and most people exited right after the cake was served....

what are his reasons for being dead set against it?
personally - it was my dream!!! You can make yourself a photo booth guest book! They're really cute!

I would choose the photobooth. 1AM is very late and your guests will be tired and most likely very full by then.
Of course, you know your guests better- are the majority of them the type that would have no problem staying an extra hour?

i'd go with the photo booth, i think people would be more inclined to take pics than eat more food after all the food they'll have eaten throughout the day.

yeah i am so glad i started asking around. i was concerned it was really going to be too long...although we have a partying crowd, we are having some kids to the reception & that will automatically mean those ppl will prob go home.
my fiance thinks the photobooth is too expensive & not worth it!!
what are some good ways to convince him ? lol
i swear he needs to read the boards to understand that it's good!!
but anwyay i def would not be able to have both..the extra hour or the p booth..they work out to be around the same $$

i'm currently trying to convince FH to get one too, i just keep telling him how great our guest book will be filled with pics of our guests instead of the usual boring signatures.

IMO-I think 1 am on a Friday night is too long. Older family members probably won't stay. I am generally exhausted come Friday. If it was on the weekend and you could make it an hour earlier, I think it would be awesome. I think most would be gone by then.

I think it depends on what day your wedding would be. Friday's a tough call--yes, it's a weekend, but personally I'm exhausted at the end of the week. I'd be full by the end of the night and wouldn't eat any of the desserts. On the other hand, you could use the photo booth all night long.

i like the photo booth but i dont like how people leave the reception to go out and use the booth....the VH is my favorite and im always disappointed if there isnt one when we go to weddings after drinking and dancing i crave sweets hahahaha - i am SO excited for the VH at our wedding and for us it was a must have...ive def noticed that people leave after cake on late sunday weddings but ive never noticed that on a friday or saturday - but most of all it depends on what type of crowd you have....as a guest id be more impressed with the VH type of thing you described over the photobooth JMO

yeah i definitely know what you are saying about how a guest would perceive one over the other...i am of the same mind as you actually in regards to presentation & value for the $$...the setup @ the rh is going to be sick compared to a photobooth...
so you think a party crowd would prefer the vh right? i think the guys would like the cigar bar...
my sis said the photobooth seems more for a sweet 16 & that made me think too that maybe it is!! i do think its a cute novelty though.
my thought is this: we plan for the day @ the rh right? so why not get the most out of it & stay there an extra hour? we will never be able to do this again...do you agree ? thanx for your advice!!!!!!!

You might want to consider asking your RH to serve your cake at the viennese hour so people don't leave too early. this way most everyone is still there and they have a choice of their dessert

I am a foodie so love that idea but..1am is vERY late especially if its a weekday and people were up early for work. after you eat and drink all night you might not wnat to do all that extra so I would go with the photobooth unless you can get all the extra goodies served earlier-around the same time or right after the cake is cut.
Good luck!

My RH threw in the Viennese hour in the package so between the cocktail hour and the reception, mine will be 6 hours. I wouldn't do it if it weren't included though....$20 is a lot more to spend per person. You can do so many other things for that amount of money.
The photo booth seems like a lot of fun! Good luck!

we are getting married on a friday - our CH is 1 1/2 hours long and our reception is 4 1/2 hours long (includes VH for 45 minutes) so our wedding is 6 hours total but we have the option to go into overtime that night if we need it - and i think we'll end up using it - so i think it totally depends on your crowd - we'll have a lot of big drinkers and people who like to party/dance all night....

I would go with the photo booth. I feel like a 6 hr reception is a little long. Unless you could do all that in the 5th hour instead of extending it into its own extra hr?

I my personal opinion I think it's a bit long. Also, you should factor in the ceremony and potentially the gap between the two if there is one. I know your guests love you dearly but no one wants to spend the entire day at a wedding. Plus, these Rh's just serve too much food, most people will get tired before this extra hour.

I was just at a wedding that went until midnight (was a longer reception too) and by 11:15 most of the guests, other than family and bridal party, were gone. If they had paid to extend the wedding even further, it would have been a waste of money.
