Is A Rehearsal Dinner @ My Parents House......

Do you think having the rehearsal dinner at my parents house cheap??? We are trying to save where we can, so we decided to do it at my parents. Please tell me this isn't a bad idea.....!!!

I think if it's well done, it's not cheap at all.

Not all! You can have an amazing party in the comforts of a home.

No matter where your rehearsal dinner is, it will be great!!! I think its a great idea because there is no time limit and its more personal!

I see nothing wrong with that at all

NOT AT ALL!! I think it can be great! Just make sure your parents don't end up busting their butts cooking/cleaning so that everyone can enjoy themselves. I would have had my RD in my yard and barbecued if I was getting married in the summer.

No way. If I didn't have so many people coming I'd rather do a RD at home. It's so much more intimate and fun.

I think having it at your parents house would serve as a nice way to make the dinner very cozy and initimate!! I may be doing the same, don't worry, nobody will think you're being cheap!

We were going to do this as well at first - but then my FIL decided to pay for the dinner and take everyone out.

No way! Thats a great idea! I've been to a couple at peoples homes and its just as nice as a restaurant. Actually, its very comfortable.

It's actually better because people can stay as long as they want and you can enjoy being 'home' on the night before your wedding!

This was actually what we were going to do, but then I decided people might stay tooooooo much and I needed sleep!

BUT all in all...I LOVE the idea!

I've been to two rehearsal dinners that were at the groom's parents house.

They were both really nice and relaxing. They had them catered and one actually had a tent set up in the back yard.

Go for it!

If mom's house could hold 40 people I would have loved to do it there! Unfortunately, it won't.

I think the purpose of a rehearsal dinner is to get your family and BP together to celebrate the upcoming wedding and to thank them for their help and support. I think having it at your parents house is fine. If my parents weren't divorced and my mom would allow my dad and stepmom in my house we would def have it there. I think it's a great idea.
