Is anybody's FH/DH addicted to the internet?

Original post by Anniegrl

I swear, my FH is CONSTANTLY on the internet. Between his college football message boards, his college basketball message boards, checking sports scores, playing with stocks, checking e-mail, online gaming, instant messaging........ I feel like I'm living with a roomate sometimes instead of my future husband. And when he's not at home on his computer, he has his T-Mobile sidekick that he uses as his portable internet connection.

We've had many many talks about this problem of his, and he always attempts to do something about it, but he's starting to backslide again. He spends around 6 hours on the internet AFTER he gets home from work. The other night he was up until 5 am, last night he was up until 2:30 am!!!!

Am I the only one going through this?

Danielle and I met online, so its a good thing that I am addicted to the internet. I am online 8 hours at work and then in the evening and on the weekend.

Danielle always says that I am addicted to the computer, its pretty funny.

Its a good thing I am. I found this board on the internet, I did so much research for our wedding, and I make money off the Internet selling stuff on ebay and half.com...I dont know what the world would be like today if there was no internet....Or what I would do to fill my spare time....

Same basic story..
Jim & I met online.
Just last night we were thinking we should invite the MIRC #Newyork channel to our wedding since it's how we met.

My boards/internet use:
LIW
Mazda MX3 Ultimate Message Board
Yahoo Groups: MX3owners, NAIWNYC
#conquest Undernet MIRC
#austin Undernet MIRC
#texas Efnet MIRC
#newyork Efnet MIRC

Jim's Boards/internet use:
Sony Clie Board
Hyundai Tiburon Board
#?? (i forget) for Clie downloads MIRC
#newyork Efnet MIRC
I know of another but forget the purpose.
ipod Board

Both of us Ebay !!

Can't imagine life without a keyboard!!!
Which is why at home we have a VERY expensive high tech comfort conformed board that most people can't use but helps us both prevent cramping and actually speeds up our typing skills.

ETA:
Oh and I have:
3 emails accounts on Excite
2 on yahoo
1 on hotmail

God bless the WWW
Went to the WWW conference of 1993 in New Orleans back when www. meant very little but was growing.

OH and I still occasionally Telnet to get into certain places to chat. Totally DOS mode version.. so sad I am!

Roger loves anything tech related even tech tv He moved the laptop in to the bedroom but I distract him so much he has not been on it much in bed. The funny thing is when he works from home you would think he would be in bed with the laptop, he actually goes into the office

At first he was fascinated with his computer, now he uses it more for a resource. He is actively looking for another job, so he spends most of his time on Monster.com

JULZ33,
I must say I take personal offense to your post. I trust my DH 100% and if he chooses to play a video game that's fine with me. We watch TV together every night and often play video games together (I've recently become addicted to PacMan, DigDug and Galaga on PS2). He just chooses to stay up later than I do. I don't consider it him 'choosing the internet over me' he just enjoys playing the game and I would never stop him. If I had a problem with it he wouldn't play but I have no problems! I've watched him play and I see how it could be very addictive b/c you are interacting with guys from all over the world...look at LIW for women, very addictive!!
Honestly I think YOU may have a 'serious problem' if you wouldn't trust your FH enough to go on the internet to play games if that's what he chose to do. FYI not every guy cheats and it's sad you may think so. Another thing to think about is if they ARE going to cheat..they will do it with or without the computer!!!

IMO

You need to RELAX!
I never said I don't trust my FH or that I think every guy cheats! Stop putting words into my mouth.
Maybe you missed it in Anniegirl's post. Here let me clarify it for you.

CONSTANTLY!
Roomate rather than husband!
Many talks but backslides!
6 hours a night!
Do you not see the at the end of the post?

Anniegirl apparently feels bad about this. It is more than a 'my FH likes to play games ' post.

BEFORE YOU TAKE OFFENSE WHY DON'T YOU READ THE POST I WAS REPLYING TO!

I wouldn't mind FH being online if I weren't around, but I take offense to him spending hours online when I'm sitting downstairs all by myself! And yes, I DO have a life, but I do like spending time with him and it makes me so mad that he spends maybe 15 minutes talking to me after work then goes and hides in his office until 3 am chatting with his virtual buddies about sports and whatever else. He just lives in his own little world sometimes......

This situation is different from yours so don't get your panties in a ruffle

LOL I was gonna say this too!

Seriously when I go on LIW it is mostly from work or when FH is not around. I would not choose the internet over him. If your FH is up all night online and choosing the internet over you then I think you have a serious problem. This is one of the reasons for my parents divorce. He was talking to tons of women online, in addition to playing games and checking sports scores. I'm not trying to say that your FH is talking to other women... I'm just trying to say that these thing happen.

My parents split pretty much because of my dad's internet addiction as well...
