I was doing wedding research and came across the MONEY DANCE or DOLLAR DANCE. Just curious how it works? Never seen one before.
'In many families a 'money dance' -- sometimes called a 'dollar dance' is traditional at wedding dance receptions.'

I think Eurpoean custom. Basically the bride dances with all the male guest. She switches partners several times during the dance. They drop a dollor in a bucket or they pin it to her dress. I seen before in a polish/greek wedding. Very cute.

unless it is a tradition for your culture to do it. I would stay away from it. If all your family weddings have done it that that is great, keep up the tradition which is what it is. Don't do it just because it seems fun, it will look like you are trying to get money from people.
It is also a polish tradition I belive to pay $1 to dance with the bride.

Oh ok I did not know where it came from. I was looking at traditions online and came across it. I won't do it either. I want to see pics of it. Do they really pin money on the brides dress?

In Poland, a 'money dance' is a tradition practiced at the reception. This is usually not held until the guests have eaten and the other ceremonies have been performed. The guests will either pin money to the wedding dress, or the Maid of Honor will wear an apron to collect the money, to 'buy a dance from her. These gifts of money are usually used by the couple towards their honeymoon expenses.
After all who want to dance with the bride have danced with her, a tight circle is formed around her, and the groom then tries to break through the circle, while the guests try to keep him out. Once he has broken through, he picks up his bride and carries her away from the wedding reception to start their new life together.
In a variation of the 'money dance,'' the bride will dance with her father while a relative holds out an apron. The guests who place money in the apron will win an opportunity to dance with the bride. After most or all of the guests (can be both men and women) have danced with the bride, the groom will throw in his wallet, which surpasses all the other contributions. He will then escape with his bride to their honeymoon.

Apparently this is an Italian thing too....
For the traditional Italian custom of 'buste', the bride will carry a satin bag (la borsa) in which guests place envelopes of money to defer the expenses of customarily lavish Italian weddings. Sometimes the bag is guarded by the bride's grandmother during the festivities or the bride might wear it and allow male guests to put money in it in exchange for a dance with her.
