Is anyone else getting babies PUSHED on them!

We went to a party at FBIL's house on Christmas Eve. I could not believe all of the baby talk that went on. Someone asked fh something about it while I was coming into the room...all I heard was him say 'well, we're not planning to right now, but if it's happens...' and I was like 'ugh, I know what you're talking about already and it's not happening' the wife was like 'well I look at you and you seem so ready...you love kids'

I was like 'yes, I love kids, but I also LOVE to give THEM BACK TO THEIR PARENTS' after I've finshed frolicking with them LOL.

I just don't get it...do people normally ask such questions, or is it just acceptable when you are getting married?

I know what you are talking about. We were at a family party yesterday & there were kids there, so of course Mike & I were playing with them. Then the questions start--well when are you guys going to start trying? So annoying. Can we get married first?? Anyway, just try to laugh it off, that is what we do.

We've only experienced that once so far and it made me so angry that I think FHs family has learned to keep quiet about it. I mean, can I get married first? How do you know that I can even have kids?

This is what my married friend told me when I got engaged.

Before your engaged everyone asks 'So when are you getting married?'

After your engaged 'Your getting married? Your so young!'

After your married (or in her case, day of the wedding) 'when are you having babies?'

After your pregnant 'Your already having a baby? Your so young and you just got married!!'

You can't win with people.....

I was asked this question too many times this weekend! Now that the wedding is getting so close people are already asking about kids! I have made it abundantly clear that I don't want to have kids for awhile - I want to enjoy married life and just the two of us first....(well and plus his daughter )

OK, I am right there with you.
People are so clueless about boundaries.

Next time they ask, give them too many gross details about your sex life. This will instantly make them uncomfortable, and shut them up.

It hasn't started YET but I already know it will the second after we get married. No wait, I stand corrected, IT HAS happened!!!

My side of the family already has 3 girls (my neices) so I already have my mother pushing us to have a boy. Ummm, mom we're not trying to have kids until at least the end of 2007 and it's not my chromosome that determines if it's a boy or girl!!!

Then when I tell her this, she keeps reminding me that I'm not getting any younger!! Thanks, I didn't know you were doing the biological clock ticking for me!!

His side of the family has no grandchildren, and his brother is gay, so it's safe to say he will not be having kids unless they adopt. So I am fully aware that right after we get married his family will be pushing us to have kids. My only saving grace is that his cousin is getting married next year also, so I will not be alone!!

Just wait until AFTER the wedding! We had alot of it on our wedding day, after we came back from the honeymoon, I was told that there was actually a pool going as to when we'd have our first. Just this weekend after a cousin asked how many bedrooms we had in our new house and I replied.... he said to me 'so... what are you waiting for?' Yesterday my gradmother was visiting us and she pulled me aside and told me she wasn't getting any younger and wants to be a great grandmother....

ETA: DH and I aren't exactly on the young side either... so I KNOW the clock is ticking!

Yep!
FMIL is already making room at the table for a high chair.

Although FH and I are bad. We've already bought a baby bib and socks for our future little one. We are both over 30 and anxious to start our family.

No one has really said too much except 'do you plan to have babies soon after the wedding' We are going to have babies as soon as possible, g&d willing so I don't mind the ??'s

Not really. I think I am pushing them on myself. I have baby fever as one of my BMs just had a baby yesterday!

The FILs and FH's side of the family are dying for us to have kids, but my family keeps telling us not to rush and that we have plenty of time

I got it all Christmas long. Everyone keeps asking when are we going to have kids. I think it is so obnoxious. First of all, do you know if I want kids and second, what if when I try, I can't get pregnant, how do they think I'll feel after all of this pushing? People don't know boundaries!

Hell, I am still trying to figure out what 'you look so ready' means....I mean, I know I am 'hippy' but jeez...what does that mean!

Okay my very first Xmas with my FH, his grandmother hands me a 6month old baby boy and is like 'here here!'
Of course I was more than happy to hold him and didn't want to give him back I love kids. But I'm holding off until we own a house.

i have been getting little hints of it lately. i was helping a customer where i work the other day and i havent seen them in a while b/c i havent worked there in a while. she was asking about the wedding, then asking when we will start a family. she was a proper swiss woman so i guess they ask those things....

then my boss at work says i will be a baby maschine. um yeah i dont think so. i get blood taken and i faint. then he said i will have one within a year. no i was thinking 3-4 years, but really thanks for your input .

Of course I was more than happy to hold him and didn't want to give him back I love kids. But then she put her hands in my pants around my hips and squeezes them tight, I'm feeling very embaressed and violeted, and she takes them out and goes 'I approve!'

Holy crap!!!

I think I would have said something to the effect of 'Well I don't approve of you touching me or trying to somehow determine if my hips are worthy!!'
