is anyone else in denial over having to change their names?

since being engaged I feel like I refuse to admit I will be changing my name soon.

I want to take FH's name bc I always thought I would take my husbands last name for the sake of our future kids etc. but i just hate his last name and like can't accept the fact that it will be mine soon.

people will jokingly call me by his last name and im like UGh no!

i dont wanna have different names and hypenating would be too long. I have tried to get FH to take my name but he's not into that

I am gonna have to face the facts soon!

I definately feel you on this one. A lot of my friends actually call me by my last name and keep asking if they should stop when i get married and i told them no, not to stop - but FH told them they can not call me by my old last name!

I will ultimately take his last name for the same reasons as you are, but part of me is really going to miss my original last name.

ME!!! I still haven't decided what to do. FH husband's later name ends in er as does my first name and I feel like it's so awkward to say.

i am very upset. its a cool italian last name and flows soooo nicely now. my coworkers have a nickname for me now... 'quigs' cause the name will be quigney.. how horrible

i like FH's last name. and i keep the same initials, so i think its okay.

for work reasons, i have been thinking about how to make the transition. liike if i need references in teh future and the employer calls someone and asks for a reference for Mrs. (new last name), they wont know me!!

but aside from that...the one thing im in major denial about.....the amount of work that it will probably take to change all those documents

I actually surprisingly don't mind his last name....I do love my last name though......oh well! I guess that's part of being married!! Hyphenating mine and then his will make it like almost 20 letters so than isn't happening lol

everyone mis spells my name and doesn't say it right. FH has a short, easy 3 letter last name. I just don't think FH's last name goes well with my name. i like my name and it has been a part of me for so long that i don't want to give it up. i'm still trying to decide what to do.

i'm downgrading by taking his name. but my last name is a first name so at least i'll avoid that confusion. it's SO annoying when i say my last name and people respond with 'i asked for your last name.' i know my own name people!

I can't wait to change my last name...I say that all the time lol. His is easy-Martini, I won't have to spell it again and people won't constantly mispronounce it.

I always wanted to take FH's last name but now as we are coming closer i am having reservations. I don't know why but I kinda want to keep my name.

All through high school i was called 'Ace' due to my last name being Ventura and FH has a nice Italian last name that's not too long and usually pronounced and spelled correctly. I want the same name for our future kids but i keep thinking about keeping it for awhile.

I am also working on my teaching certificate so I don't know if i should keep maiden name for that and go by FH's personally. The kids all call me Miss V now and it's weird that in September they will call me Mrs. I. It's too long to hyphenate and I wouldn't be called both but i don't know what to do..... I don't know why i feel this way all of a sudden
