IS ANYONE ELSE NOT

HAVING A REHERSAL DINNER?

I FEEL BAD THAT I AM NOT DOING ONE....BUT MONEY IS SO TIGHT....

IS ANYONE ELSE NOT HAVING ONE OR IS DOING A BBQ OR SOMETHING ELSE THAT ISN'T EXPENSIVE?

we are not

our hall does not do night-before rehearsals

i hear they are not really necessary

and therefore no dinner

i hear people generally do not like rehearsal dinners because its 'too much' to do the night before or days before ..

i dont mind them .. but not having one!

We're doing something at home. Possibly a BBQ if the weather stays nice. If not, we'll either have my dad cook some Italian food or we'll get heros & stuff like that.

Not having a rehearsal dinner!! We just bought a house so we're going to have a small gathering there the week before our wedding to practice whatever we need to do, and also to give out our bridal party gifts. We're thinking bbq too since the wedding is in early September. It will be so much more chill and fun :)

We're just going to have a small bbq because we don't want to spend the money and have everyone out late the night before the wedding.

We haven't gotten that far yet- but I love the idea of doing something smaller & more intimate like a BBQ-- ok and I'll admit we totally need to save the money lol

Luckily, we are not paying for it, but if we had to, we were giong to have everyone back at our house.

You don't have to have one though. Are you doing bridal party gifts? When did you plan on giving them the gifts?

we are having onebut FHs parents are footing the bill. Otherwise there is NO way FH and i could afford it!!! We are very fortunate that our parents are helping as much as they are!!!

Why not have an outside BBQ? I think that would be awesome for a rehearsal dinner!! They dont have to be fancy. Or have a homemade dinner at your home. Although a bbq will be easier! If my wedding was not in march and we had an outdoor space, I'd be all about throwing some steaks on the grill and having pasta salad and that kind of stuff for the dinner!

we're not. I've been so busy with school, buying a house, and planning the wedding that I didn't even think about planning a rehearsal dinner. We'll probably have a BBQ or something though.

We didn't do a BBQ, but it was a backyard pot luck. My mom hosted at her house and made a turkey and some pasta. Then my grandma made 2 things, DH's aunt brought soda/beer, and I provided the cake. It was really inexpensive and worked out well for us!!

We're doing a backyard thing in August for our October wedding, since MOH is a teacher, mom works for school, and BM is in college. We'll do a walkthrough, a rundown of the ceremony, then we'll do an on-site walkthrough the morning of the wedding.

I had one, but only because MIL paid for it! Otherwise, we probably would have had just the bp over for pizza or something.

My sister didn't have a rehearsal dinner. The bp came to my mom's house (no parents, just the bp - she gave parent gifts after the wedding) and we had a luau-themed bbq. It was fun and cheap!

We're doing a BBQ- we thought it would be more fun to do a laid back thing with our BP since we will have our fill of formal stuff for the wedding-- and who doesn't love a good BBQ :)

The groom parents are supposed to help you out with that but if they can't just BBQ. Everybody loves a BBQ anyway and have everyone bring their best dish to share. You know the food will be good!!!!

Re: IS ANYONE ELSE NOT

our budget is tight too but it stinks bc we're OOT ourselves so we cant do something small here like BBQ...we'll be on LI for a few days before anyways. we'll kinda be forced to do something on LI out to dinner. my RH wont agree to anything til like a mth ahead of time bc its a social club with members and they have events always being scheduled. Our rehearsal isnt really on the list of priorities over their social events of course. Who knows what Ill end up doing.

and to top it off, FHs parents havent said anything at all about helping and my parents are paying for like 90% of everything for this wedding. I dont know if they just dont know the etiquette on it or what. Oh well!

We just did a backyard BBQ, it was great! It was laid back and casual, the BP was happy, too because a few of them had other things to do so they were happy it wasn't a formal thing.

(our rehearsal was 45 mins before the ceremony)

Re: IS ANYONE ELSE NOT

Im not doing one either.
Mostly because my wedding is a Friday and my bridal pary is coming in from OOT so I dont know who will even be there for it the night before! Are you at least going to walk through the ceremony with everyone?
We have our rehersal a 1/2 hour before the ceremony just so everyone knows where to stand.
But I agree..rehersal dinners can be expensive and you canonly afford to do so much!
