IS ANYONE ELSE NOT

Re: IS ANYONE ELSE NOT

We are doing the walk through right before the ceremony but I will arrange a dinner with OOTers, family and BP during the weekend.

I'm not. Instead, we're doing a Sunday brunch the day after for the family and close friends. We're doing it in a bistro -- much cheaper than what the hotel would have charged to cater it.

Our rehersal is the morning of the wedding (I know, how weird is that?) so we're not having a rehersal dinner. But we do plan on doing something...probably just at the house, bbq style. We'll see....

Plus, money is tight with us too. We just cant afford any more!!!

i don't think so (though we haven't gotten that far in planning yet) at least not in the formal sense. we don't have the money to spare. i would like to have a rehearsal though at the church in which case afterwards the people involved in the ceremony would either come backt o my parent's house or go out to a diner together. my family, fh, friends, and fh's dad are all really laid back and don't care too much about things like that. i have a feeling though that despite her telling us to keep it as cheap as possible, his mom is gonna be kinda like 'what?'

then again she's not from ny, so who knows...

Im not having one because I really dont want one. I want to be able to relax before the wedding, i feel that this dinner is too much forced togetherness. Plus we are spending enough already, i refuse to compromise something for my wedding just so i can afford a rehearsal dinner i dont want!

I know people who have not had rehearsal dinners. Having a barbicue would be just as nice.

I wish we could do a BBQ but since we live in Suffolk and getting married in Nassau ~ we are still on the search for place (everything is so expensive) But if you dont need to have one then i guess you dont have to - we are getting married in a church and this is when the whole BP will be around & together so we are taking them out to eat and giving them there gifts and thanking them for a sharing and helping make our day so special! if you want to do one you can do low key at your house,,,BBQ or something (I would love to do that)

no RD for us--no offense to anyone who does them, but i think they are a total waste of money.

instead of an RD--my mom hooked up some rice & pernil (puerto rican pork shoulder) and my OOT friends and immediate family had a little party at my parent's house. it was fantastic and trust me when i say there are no words for how much fun we had keeping it loose with some spanish music playing on the stereo and everyone having some drinks!

We are not having one because we can't afford it. We thought maybe we would do Pizza back at our apartment for anyone who wants to come. RD are nice, but I have known people not to do them before and no one missed it.

Re: IS ANYONE ELSE NOT

We are not because some of the people in the wedding live 1.5 hours away and I don't feel right asking them to do that drive two days in a row. I figured we have all been to or participated in a bunch of weddings, we know what to do.

If you want the rehersal and don't want to spend lots of money, you could do something really simple - my sister had everyone over to another sisters house and we had pizza and wings - the people who are part of the rehersal are mostly likely very close to you, so I don't think they'd mind a casual hang out pizza night before the big day

Re: IS ANYONE ELSE NOT

We entertained the idea of just having drinks and snacks at our house (we lived together before we got married). We felt bad cause my in laws gave us money for the wedding and they wanted to pay for the rehearsal too. In the end my MIL won and paid for the dinner. But I think that having something a little more casual is really nice. A BBQ is a GREAT idea!

having trouble with that one myself. FMIL wants to pay for the dinner and flowers. but monet is tight and i`d prefer her to pay for something else (help out with dj or photos) and give up the dinner or just do like cake and coffee at my mom`s after. idk but i don`t feel it is nessacery to have one

Re: IS ANYONE ELSE NOT

totally just going through rehearsal at church then BBQ in the backyard...having some food catered too...
i like the idea of hanging out on our terms, not specific time to leave, etc....
should be a blast---making invites now as we speak...

As of right now we are not having one. We are paying for most of the wedding and it is too expensive.

Re: IS ANYONE ELSE NOT

I think having a bbq or homemade dinner is perfectly acceptable as a rehearsal dinner. You can def make it just as nice as going out by hosting it in a home or backyard!

We're doing something at home. Possibly a BBQ if the weather stays nice. If not, we'll either have my dad cook some Italian food or we'll get heros & stuff like that.

that's exactly what we are doing!
