Is anyone elses mom under 50?

Is anyone elses mom under 50?

my mom is 48. she doesn't like 'traditional' MOB dresses b/c she says she's not 'old' she is heavy but has been losing weight for some time. (her words, not mine.)

where can I take her to buy a dress?

I live in Brooklyn. the day my mom travels to LI will be my wedding day...so stores in LI probably won't help.

city stores and websites would be most helpful. thanks.

My mom is 43, and we are having the hardest time finding a dress for her. Everything looks much older than she wants to go, plus shes very short, so a long dress makes her look kind of dumpy..We went to pzaz the other day..and they usually have some pretty sketchy stuff, but they actually had a few relly great dresses for her..try there..it you dont find anything for your mom, just walk around for a minute and look at some of the absurd gowns they have..you will atleast get a laugh out of it

My mom is 46...I had a post about this - lemme see if I can find it.

I'm taking her to Valentina's, Cache, Effie's, and Dana Ree to look at dresses - all located in Brooklyn.

My mom is over 50 but not by much so she doesn't want an 'old' MOB dress either and she's having the hardest time. We've actually started looking at some of the more conservative BM dresses out there for her.

GL in your search ladies!!

my mom is 49 and didn't want a old lady style dress, we found her something formal that is strapless and beautiful in Adrienne's!

My mother just turned 48 inJuly, and looks no where near her age, I found her a dress form Watters & Watters, but where not sure if she's going with it yet. She has tried it on though, and it looks good on her, but where still looking. If she dosen't use it FMIL will b/c she loves the dress, and she too doesn't look her age which is 54

My mom just turned 49 and she does not want to wear a traditional gown either, so most likely she will be wearing something along this line...Lord and Taylor is THE best for stuff like that...

She also liked this dress...in brown...

my mom will DEFINITELY go for something like that....it's funny b/c she has thick legs, but LOVE shorter skirts! whatever floats her boat!

No-can you believe it????? Take a trip with momma one of these days during the weekend...you can 'bond' more that way...I did that with my mom (made her buy me a Kenneth Cole jacket too)

Nope - they have such different things at each store - sort of like how you go to Marshall's and they get whatever they get, and by the time they put it up on the web, it's sold off and they bring something else in.

p.s. My mom wasn't really into anything in the stores, and the dresses were pretty steep for the ones she did like - so...we're having her dress made....

I can beat you all - my mom is 73. So she can't wear typical mother of the bride stuff either. She is overweight and rather self conscious so she went to her favorite plus size dress shop, found a dress she loved and they are customizing it to her figure (ie. elongating the outer jacket and top layer of the dress). She looks stunning in it.

I like to see women of ALL ages dress in an age-appropriate manner. Little girls dressing like little girls, young ladies like young ladies and older women dressing elegant, but not matronly or whorish. I have seen some mothers of the brides try to recapture their youth by wearing provocative dresses and it just irks me sometimes. Yes she plays an important role, but its her DAUGHTER's day to be in the spotlight.

My Mom is 44. I noticed that Moncherie bridals has a decent selection for Mother of the bride dresses.
