I just saw in your album that you have an asian wedding dress. Are you going to wear one? I have 2 that I'm wearing. One for the tea ceremony and one for the reception.
Will you be doing the tea ceremony?

I have no clue. I wanted to wear the red dress either going there or during the reception. I havent decided what I am going to do.

What is the tea ceremony? MY FH was born here and isnt relaly traditional chinese and he only has his mom here.

The tea ceremony is when the bride and groom serve tea to the elders to pay their respect and in return they get red envelops with money in it or wedding jewelry.
I'll be wearing the red dress briefly to to the toast or the cake cutting only. Then I'm changing back to my white gown.

Re: Is anyone in an interracial relationship?

traditionally it's done at home on the wedding day but since people are coming from all over the place nowadays, we are doing the Tea Ceremony at the reception hall. You can do it the night before or the day after. No one really goes by tradition anymore but I think your FMIL will be happy to drink your tea. I did a lot of research on this.

I'm half Japanese and FH is Jewish.

FYI- being Jewish isn't a race, it's a religion

While Judaism is a religion, a lot of people tend to think of it in the more cultural aspect. I am half Korean, half Caucasian and 100% Jewish. When people ask me what nationality I am, I say Korean and Jewish. For me the Jewish part is more cultural than religious (and I did go to Hebrew school, and I was batmitzvahed), and I have noticed that most of my friends feel the same way.

Sorry to the OP - I didn't mean to threadjack.

I'm in an interracial relationship - and I am also the product of an interracial marriage. I'm half Korean, half Eastern European, 100% Jewish, and my husband is half German, half Eastern European and also 100% Jewish.
