In a few years, we'll most likely be moving. FH grew up out of state and he doesn't particularly care for Long Island or NY. He feels like there are so many nicer places to live with a better quality of life. We'll most likely be moving at some point in the next few years.

yes...we already did...we are now in NC! Trust me im the last person who wanted to leave home but honestly it was prob the best thing for us! You gotta see the homes its crazy! You can get a house there that would be 7 or up here for 3 or under.......i cant wait till we can buy!!
Re: Is anyone looking to move off L.I. after they are married?
This is something that I stress about constantly!!! I just can't imagine how I can afford to live here or buy a house here. It is just crazy! We are possibly looking at PA, but all of our family is here too.
Re: Is anyone looking to move off L.I. after they are married?
I wanted to move to NC like yesterday. But now I can save up more money for a down payment/wedding up here.. so I will be there in 2009!

Well I'm not moving from LI, but I'm moving out of FL for quality of life issues and the cost of housing. I can't wait to leave. FL has changed so much, it's overpopulated and the median housing price in my area is now $450k. The hurricanes have become a huge nightmare and not worth it. I know people in NY think FL is paradise, but I tend to disagree. I've been here for 16yrs and it's devoid of culture, the schools are horrible, and besides going to the beach there isn't anything to do.

Well, I rather not move out of Nassau county but we Can't afford LI we love it and our both of our family's live here , We might have to Buy a co-op in queens Glen oaks Its kinda like LI but no LI taxes ..
Re: Is anyone looking to move off L.I. after they are married?
Yes actually. We have come to the very sad conclusion that if we stay here we will never own a home. It's hard. I've lived on LI my whole life...my family and friends are all here, but real estate is so unobtainable to people just starting out. We won't be moving right after we are married, but definitely before we have kids. FH and I would rather not struggle. We plan on working here for a couple of years (because the salary is higher here), saving and then moving out of state. Unless some miracle happens and we make a lot more here then we are expecting, we are being forced to re-locate. I'm very sad about it actually. We are also thinking NC or VA

moving to jersey
Re: Is anyone looking to move off L.I. after they are married?
I'm not from LI and have no family down here - so I've raised that question on numerous occasions. FH comes from a very small family and they all live on LI, so he doesn't see us moving and frankly, I don't want it to be yet another argument for us - I'll stay to be with him and he's promised that he'll take me to see my family whenever I want. We both realize we have to save a lot of money to buy a home here, but as long as we're together - I'll and we'll be happy!
