Why is it traditional to miss the CH? All the weddings I've been to, its church then picture taking in the park or whatever, then pics at the hall w/ family then chill in the bridal suite until CH is over.....which sometimes means a looong wait...
Why is this a tradition? I was ok with it until I realized that w/ sunset at 6:30 we'll be done w/pic in the park, (ceremony should be done by 4:30 or 5) which gives us 1 1/2 or more for pics at the park.....then a 30 min ride to the hall...means we'll have another HOUR for more family pics and just basically waste time (CH starts at 7:30)...
Am I over reacting? Will the photographer need more than 1.5 hours? Or is that the average time for BP pics, romatic pics etc...and then another hour for family, me & him, etc at the hall? Is that a good thing to have this much time? Or is my BP gonna choke me for making them miss the CH...am I gonna regret missing the CH? Or is just so cool to have that BIG entrance? confused...
Jeez I'm tired just thinking of it...

NOPE
we wanted to attend our CH, so we went to Bridal Suite-made sure we ate something, took pics, and went to CH to greet guests, this eliminated having to go around to ALL the tables and spend precious time during the reception going around to each table! I am glad we did!

I want to miss my CH! Personally, i dont see the point in going to the CH but that is just my opinion. I think that i just want to spend my cocktail hour with my new hubby!! and our bridal party because i will probably not get to see them much for the rest of the night. Plus i want to make my grand entrance lol

Did you still do the big entrance, where they announce you and everyone in the BP?

That is exactly how I feel! Why would I want to miss a minute of my fantastic and EXPENSIVE day in not necessary!

I always though that I would not want to attend my CH, but we went to a wedding this past July where the bride and groom attended the CH and went around eatting and greeting everyone. They had such a blast at the recpetion because they did not have to take the time then to greet everyone! I am almost definitetly attending the CH now!!

Also, one month before me, my moh WANTED to miss her cocktail hour...then when she that at mine,we went-she liked that idea so much better...she wished she didnt miss hers-she missed so much of her wedding-45min-1 hour saying hello to all the tables her parents actually ADDED an hour to the wedding...which of course was a lot of fun--but $$$

Does it still work saying hi to everyone at CH, when its in a different room than the reception? I would still have to go around the table right?

We went to our CH. It was a great time to greet everyone. And it gives you more time to actually enjoy the reception.

i am NOT missing my CH. i wanna eat stuff (maybe in the bridal suite) and i wanna greet people then so i dont have to during our reception. so many of my friends have greetedd everyone during their reception and they dont remember it because thats all they were doing, they werent enjoying their wedding. so if im paying all of that money for my wedding myself, i am NOT going to be spending all of my time thanking everyone

ours was in a different room and we DID NOT go to every table-some may have thought it was rude-but come on-I JUST said hello to them... and if they were up dancing and having fun, we would have seen them... Thats my personal opinion, of course
eta-we went to some tables-people we may have missed at the CH-

I totally agree with these girls!!! We will be attending as much of our CH as possible. I want to greet everyone and thank them for coming, and be able to talk and enjoy myself. We will also be going around at the reception, but at least we will not have to spend the whole night doing this. We are spending too much money on this one night, and I don't regret any of it, but I do not want to miss a second if the party. I don't want people coming up to me telling me how great my CH was and I don't know what they are talking about because I did not enjoy it. Don't get me wrong, I am sure the bridal suite would be a blast too, but we have 3 hours in between the Church and CH to take picture and enjoy the suite. So hopefully by 7:30pm I will be in my CH.
And yes we are still making our grand entrance into the reception.

I want to attend my CH and because we have a long gap (4hrs) between the church and CH...the bridal party and us should definitely be able to attend the CH. Also, that is where all the good food is!!! Another reason - I agree it is great to be able to greet your guests then and be able to enjoy the entire reception.

No way! We had so much fun at our CH! We came in on the boat at CLM and all our guests were there to greet us. Then went down to the bridal suite to freshen up for 5 minutes then went into our CHour. Everyone was getting us food, telling us how great the ceremony was, etc... It was fantastic and I highly recommend going to your CHour.
Plus, when we went around to all the tables at the reception we didn't have to stay and chat with each person forever, since we already did that with most of them at CHour!

Re: Is anyone missing their CH on purpose? (long)
We missed out CH but not on purpose... everything just took so much longer than planned and we just didn't keep track of how long our pictures were taking until we got to RH and the CH was nearly over...this is by far my biggest (and really only major) upset about our wedding...if I could rewind, I'd have done a lot of things differently to have gotten to be there for even 1/2 of it....
ETA - you have a lifetime to spend w/ your new husband but only one day to celebrate your marriage w/ all your family and friends and I personally don't see why any bride or groom would want to miss out on any minute of it

This is how I feel... I didn't attend my CH (mainly b/c I was taking pictures) but honestly, I wouldn't have wanted to. I wanted to make a grand entrance at the reception... besides I liked eating with my DH in the bridal suite and sharing some time alone. We had NO time alone after the CH.

Re: Is anyone missing their CH on purpose? (long)
the CH is my favorite part! i know they bring you food in the suite but i am having like 100 things and i dont want to miss anything
i cant imagine missing a whole hour of my wedding just waiting around!!! i am going to the CH and then leaving when they start moving people into the room for the reception. . . and then have my entrance
i will still go around to every table though - theres no way to keep track of who we said hello to in the CH so i want to make sure i get to everyone!
