I really don't think I am going to have a videographer...it's just not in the budget and I can't afford to even try to squeeze it in.
Is anyone else not having a Videographer?

Re: Is anyone not having a Videographer?
As of now we're not, just because I don't think we'll ever watch it.... we can upgrade our photo package to add video for a reasonable amt but I am thinking it might be unnecessary. A guest is a professional videographer so we might ask him to shoot the ceremony and first dance.

Re: Is anyone not having a Videographer?
We decided to get one at the last minute. I was on the fence for so long. I doubt we'll watch it a ton but I was just really nervous about regretting my decision not to have one after the fact. My bridal shower flew by in the blink of an eye and I don't remember a thing so I'm sure the wedding will be 300 times worse. It'll be nice to have down the road. It is another expense but I figured it was probably worth it
ETA: Our videographer is awesome and pretty reasonable (charging $1300). FM me if you want details

I think we are skipping it...though we hope we don't regret it! Hopefully the 1,000 photos will be enough...

Re: Is anyone not having a Videographer?
There was a post on here the other day from a past bride talking about how she was just sitting watching her daugher watch her wedding video and how she was so grateful she got it so her children could see mommy n daddy. And she said something about the daughter saying mommy n daddy are on tv! and it was just SO cute... wish I could find it. I am only getting the most basic video and I was also on the fence about getting it, but now I am glad its in my contract so that one day I can watch it with my kids...even if its just once.
Sorry for the long post..but just thought I would share

We got it last minute as well (about 6 weeks before wedding) and found one w/ light editing for about $850. There were actually a few choices of LIW videog vendors for under 1k. You can't un-do not having a wedding video BUT if I hate it and feel fat I can NOT watch it haha. It is hard to find another 1k but I say take if from somewhere else if u can.

at the last minute we decided to add video and i'm glad we did. granted, we've only watched it in its entirety once, but our parents are so grateful we did. and i can't wait to watch the video with our children one day. it was one of those things that i felt if i didn't do it, i'd regret it.

Re: Is anyone not having a Videographer?
We're not having one. From day 1 we decided we weren't going to and I don't feel any sort of worry about it.
My dad has hours and hours of videos of my brother and I growing up that he recently had put onto DVDs that we still never watch.
I love FH, but we're more interested in the evolution of our lives together than the day we got married. That being said, I'm very excited about the pictures and hope they come out AMAZING.

aww! This is EXACTLY why I wanted to get it from day one! My parents have a wedding video but there is no sound. So there are just random family members talking into the camera but you have no clue what they are saying. Its very short but I am just grateful to see any of it! It's really cool as a bride to watch your parents wedding video and see what they did on their wedding day! After FH and I got engaged, my whole family watched it again (including both Grandpas) and it was sooo cool and at times funny to watch it with them and hear them remembering different parts of that day. I want to be able to watch my video with my kids some day!!!
To the OP: It is my honest suggestion that if you are even considering it a little bit, check out some prices and see if it works in your budget!

Re: Is anyone not having a Videographer?
being able to watch it with my future kids and show them actual footage is priceless to me... there may be things caught on video that your pics wont even show... at my cousins wedding a few months ago, our 87 yr old grandmother is up dancing like crazy and even had one of the band members singing to her... the emotion that comes from that is not something that can be captured in pics IMO and i hate to get morbid, but years down the road, when some important people in your life are no longer alive, being able to hear their voice again on tape makes it all worthwhile ... again, just my opinion... not bashing anyone for not getting one

Re: Is anyone not having a Videographer?
I was 100% sure i didn't want a video. After much thought and seeing what others saying about how much it meant to them i decided to just go for it and just get the basic package. I just want to be able to hear the sounds and just see those people that are older their voices and see their mannerisms once they are gone.

I don't think I am...I was going to go with Orange Films but when I contacted him and he said he was booked I didn't pursue anyone else..

Re: Is anyone not having a Videographer?
I want one so bad but it is just not in our budget I would literally watch it everyday ( i know myself too well)
I am hoping to squeeze a few buck here and there or at minimum ask a family member to do a home made one just so I have something
My photog will put together a photo montage to music so I guess that will have to suffice if we cant have a video

Re: Is anyone not having a Videographer?
We decided not to have one. We could afford it if we wanted one, but we just thought we didnt want one.
We do have a friend who will record the ceremony. Thats really all I care about...and Its just so we can have it.
But its not important to me to record the whole thing.

Re: Is anyone not having a Videographer?
We are having one and always planned on doing so.
I'm especially happy with the decision now because a couple weeks ago we were at FH's brother and SIL's house and decided to break out their wedding DVD. Our niece, their daughter who is 3 was in awe! She has made FH's SIL play the DVD almost everyday since. She says 'Mommy princess movie please'.
