I'm pretty much planning by myself, other than asking FH, 'is this ok with you?'. Personally I don't mind because I have very strong opinions and ideas in my head so it's good that no one is getting in my way, lol! Plus, I kind of like the thought of everyone being surprised the day of.

I'm flying SOLO on this also. Works for me just fine. FH will only piss me off by getting in my way. I'm better off solo on this..........besides we all have eachother here on the boards.

It's me. I have bms who help once in a while when they get curious as to what I'e been up to and a wonderful FH who will help to the best of his ability if he's actually home and I tell him what to do. But it takes longer to me to explain to him what he's doing than just to do it.

It's really overwhelming when you don't have any help.

I am planning the wedding by my self. I have plenty of opinions with my family and my moms friends.....everything they feel my wedding should be like and in all honestly I would much rather have none of their opinions. None of them are helpful and it drives me crazy. They are all too old fashioned and cant believe I would even consider half the things I have been.

My BM's have been my saving grace with the opinions I need. They know what weddings are like today and what is considered nice or outdated.

my DH and i planned our wedding together - i didnt think it was necessary to 'get help' from other people since its 'our' wedding.....if i needed a suggestion i would ask for one.....lots of people dont want the help and opinions - that can get annoying, especially when people start telling you what they think you should do

i researched on here and found everything i neeeded

read the bride reviews - those helped me a lot

good luck planning!

Yup it's all me planning it! FH comes to the meetings just to nod his head. I like it like that because I have him with me and yet I still get to pick what I really like. If he really didn't like something though he would tell me... but that hasn't happened really...

I like planning it myself. Sometimes it can be a pain in the butt to have to listen to someone else's ideas... especially if you don't agree with them. THen you have to do that awkward smile and nod thing. UGH!

My mom and my sis are great. They look at all the ideas I show them and 1 of my BM. But I also love all the help and support I get from LIW girls. So if you need anything, count on all of us.

That's what we're all here for!

We'll be your 'helpers'!!

FH lives in NC and his sister (my BM) lives down there too. My MOH is in Boston. And that's it. My mom's on dialysis and really stressed over getting herself prepped for a kidney transplant a few months after the wedding (hopefully) so she can't really help.

So it's me and I was driving my FH crazy talking to him about wedding stuff... until I found all you gals! Now I just post my little head off instead of bothering people who don't want to hear about my thoughts and dilemmas... and I feel quite satisfied I'm in very good hands!

Sandra, I hope your mom gets better and transplant goes well.

I want to play devils advocate for a moment.

I think you should speak to your friends and ASK them for help. TELL them you need some support and love.

If you dont tell them they cant know. Dont ait there and wish they would come to you. (and im not saying you are so PLEASE dont take that the wrong way).

What im trying to say is TELL them you need their lobve, support and help. They wont know if you dont tell them.

Godd luck sweetheart!

its okay i wont take it the wrong way but every time i start to talk about my wedding and things that i am doing they either change the subject or just act like they arent listening. that to me shows that they dont really care.

i am not afraid to ask for help but if i asked you a few times and you still havent helped me then thats where i draw the line because i wont beg.

this site is really helping me so hopefully i wont need them .

thanks for everything.

I basically am. FH is very busy with work and travels often. With only 9 days left and him traveling more than normal even, everything is on me and it's been difficult. He's come to every single meeting and reception hall viewing, but I am doing all the research and leg work. It can be stressful but I am sure we will all look back on this time and miss it.

Thanks Julia! We can always use all the prayers and good wishes possible.

The kidney disease that we have in our family is called Polycycstic Kidney Disease and it shuts down kidney function completely. A successful transplant is a 100% cure. Without it, it's dialysis or death. So I'm glad she's on dialysis right now. She's doing very well -- been about 3 years now. I didn't realize how stressed she was until I asked her about throwing me a shower. She broke down crying about it which is when I realized no shower for me -- I'm just so lucky to have my mom in my life.

Sandra, do you have a lot of friends in NY? I think you can throw yourself a shower. Even though my sis wanted to throw me one, I decided to do it on my own.

I got a Coordinator and the ladies on this site but other than that, I did not receive help from the people that I thought would help the most but thank God I did receive help from those unexpected plaaces.
