Is anyone staying away from Europe because.......?
I am contemplating staying away from any country that uses the euro. Right now the eurois 1.5 vs $. Which scares me because I want to go to greece but I dont want to get killed with cash. What do you think????

i am actually going in 2 months for my HM. I wish it was a better exchange rate but eh what can you do. We got an amazing deal on the HM itself so luckily for that, since we spent even less than we thought we would on flights and hotels it makes it somewhat better. FH hates the beach, i can deal with it if i want a tan but dont enjoy it, so for us it was the best thing to do. I didnt want to go to an island just to spend a little less on spending money but not enjoy our HM as much. Luckily most people love the caribbean so if that would be a better solution for you then think of that option if the euro worries you.

I have been wanting to go back to europe for the longest time. There are still so many places I want to see and experience. Unfortunately because of the exchange rate I am staying far away for now. My only concern is that the euro will get stronger. I can't stay away forever.

we were going to go to italy in 06 but decided to go on a cruise instead because of the exchange rate and how expensive the flights were.
we are planning to go to europe as a post-bar exam/1 year anniv trip (summer 09) and hope things get better, but we will probably go anyway even if it doesnt

We are going to Italy & Greece. FH and I were fighting for a long time but his Parents are paying for our honeymoon so we are set now. Before the exchange rate did worry me but now that we are having help, it really doesn't concern me as much. I personally think that if you can do it now- GO because when you are married, you probably won't be able to go to Europe for a while.

BTW, just so you know- booking a cruise can be cheaper overall because you don't have to pay for food. In Italy- the cost of food is outrageous. So, FH and I are booking a cruise- it costs all under 5K.

Thanks, that is good to know. We want to go to Greece and Italy for our honeymoon, but were warned about the exchange rate, but this is a great option. I've never been on a cruise or to Europe so it'll be all great new experiences.

I love a good cruise. My personal opinion was that I did not want to do a tour because you have to get up super early and it's not honeymoon like. With the cruise, you have the night clubs, pools, spas, great food and entertainment all on the boat. I think it's a but more romantic. Plus it ends up being much cheaper for food then a tour.

Im only staying away from there because in February its to cold. Otherwise I would have been in The Canary Islands or Italian Riviera.
So because Joe & I have been to Hawaii already we are thinking of South Africa or Brazil. Im loving Brazil!

I would love to go to europe but I really want a beach honeymoon also and my parents have a timeshare we are using.
My parents did a Cruise to Italy, France, Croatia, and Greece this past fall and they loved it! They said gifts and stuff were expensive but they didnt care since they had most meals on the ship. They would have small lunches at the ports to try food everywhere.

FH and I were going to go to Italy this year but with all the expenses for the wedding we decided against it. We're planning on going to Italy and Greece next summer for our second HM. I hope the Euro doesn't go much higher! The only thing that saves us is that if we go to Italy his family has a house there and when we go to Greece our hotel is covered as a part of RH.
