Is Anyone Taking Dance Lessons???
We would love to take dance lessons, but are broke. Is anyone else doing them? Any tips or suggestions?

Re: Is Anyone Taking Dance Lessons???
Look into community colleges and HS with continuing ed programs for less expensive alternatives to Arthur Murray and the like.

I would rather just practice in the kitchen but I know FW.. I better have some moves!.. LOL So I'm sure we'll try dance lessons. Unless of course she forgets.. and I'm not reminding her about this one! heehee

We are probably going to take dancing lessons at Smithtown Highschool. It is going to be on Thursday nights. Here is the link but the spring brochure isn't up yet. They said it should be up this week!http://saearthurhouse.homestead.com/adultcontinuinged2.html

Re: Is Anyone Taking Dance Lessons???
We saw something at the Learning Annex (in Manhattan- b/c we live in Queens). It's a 3 day thing for 2 hours each time. That's about all my FH can stand I'm sure!!! Here's the info...$119.99 per couple
***FOR TWO PEOPLE*** MEETS 3X: FEBRUARY 7, 14, 21.
Partner dancing is in these days, and this class will teach you the turns and spins to all the hottest partner dances! In three weeks, you'll learn the foundation steps of three dances: the waltz, the fox-trot and the tango.
You'll discover how easy it is to lead (or follow) your partner, and you'll begin to feel more comfortable on the dance floor. Instead of hanging back when the band starts to play, you'll be ready to ask that attractive stranger, 'Would you like to dance?' Why stand on the sidelines when you can learn to glide across the floor with the best of ‘em? Call today; space is limited. Partners are not required.
Dance New York is Manhattan's premier ballroom and Latin dance studio, with the city's top instructors and largest dance floor.

I don't know where you live but we're in the Middle Country School district and we're taking them through the continuing education program. It's 8 weeks, one night a week and it is $55.I'd check out your local school district continuing ed.

Are we talking about the same dance company? The price on the website is much higher than that. That sounds great. Where would I check that out?

We did the adult ed route and it was $45 couple for five 1hr sessions (although we only made it to two of them!).

Re: Is Anyone Taking Dance Lessons???
We actually lucked out on this one. My friend's husband owns and Arthur Murray Dance Studio, so they gave us a gift certificate for 6 free private lessons. We haven't started taking them yet, probably over the summer.

Re: Is Anyone Taking Dance Lessons???
We are! We've taken a couple lessons already, it's alot of fun (although FH may feel differently about that)! Neither one of us can dance, and I didn't want to be standing there, swaying back and forth like junior prom!We are going to Remember When Studios in St. James. They've been great so far! Patient, helpful, and they make it fun. The introductory lesson was free, and then it's $55/hour. There is no contract or package to buy like with some other places, so you just pay as you go.
If you can, I'd say go for it. Besides being lots of fun, I think it looks so nice and so elegant.
