Is anyone using red as one of their wedding colors?
Is anyone using red as one of their wedding colors? My color scheme throughout everything has been Tiffany Blue with red accents. Recently, I chose a maid of honor and rather than put her in a different dress which I did not want to do at all, I decided to put her in a red dress, as I've been trying to incorporate more red into the wedding. FMIL did NOT like this at all! She pointed out that red draws the eye in photos and said that she had friends who were talking about how someone had the nerve to wear red to a wedding once.
So I'm curious if anyone has had a BM wear red and if it looked ok? I went onto David's Bridal to use that tool and look at the photo of the colors next to one another, the color is an apple shade.
The dresses are being ordered next week so I can always put her back in blue.
Re: Is anyone using red as one of their wedding colors?
All of my girls will be wearing a dark red. That's exactly why I like it, because it draws attention. I think it might stand out a little more for you being next to the tiffany blue. But for me, the white of my gown is going to pop amongst the dark red dresses of the BM's.
I personally am not a big fan of the red and tiffany blue combo, but if you like it, go with it. If you decide to put your MOH in tiffany blue, then maybe give her more red in her bo-k than the rest of the girls, or maybe an all red bo-k.

Right now My bo-k is White with red and the girls have red with white, all roses. So there's already quite a bit of red, that's how I was tying it in initially, just little red accents. I might just give her a bigger bo-k.

I don't really think it looks bad. I actually like bold colors for weddings. Esp. with flowers. I think it looks beautiful

I think it looks nicebut if you are afraid of it standing out too much try a red ribbon around the dress to set her apart.

I think red actually looks really nice!! my sister-in-law used red with a pink accent last year! here is a pic! i think it will look very pretty with the tiffany blue! (thats the color im using!!)
Re: Is anyone using red as one of their wedding colors?
I think the red is a nice contrast w/the blue. All my girls will be wearing Apple red from Davids Bridal. My MOH, however may wear a diff color. Maybe like a darker red or wine...

Hi - yes, we are using red (as a matter of fact, we are using 'apple' from DB!) and it is the only other color we are really using ... our flowers are only red roses ... everything is going to be red! I think it's super romantic.
I don't think anyone will get more attention than the bride will on her wedding day, so I don't think you have anything to worry about!

I am doing the same with all my girls being in red for the same reason. I'm not so sure about the blue and the red though

All my girls wore, red, we didn't have one red eyes photo, and I think it looked nice. Photos are in my album.

I honestly don't understand when people say attention will be drawn away from the bride. I seriously doubt people won't look at the bride in photos just because the MOH is wearing a red dress. People will ALWAYS look at the bride.

My girls are wearing a dark red, more of a burgundy wine color, and I never thought for one minute that anyone would look at them more than me. If you like red, go for it.

I like red for a BM dress color but I'm not sure about it with the tiffany blue- I do think it may take attention away from the wedding dress BUT if you like it - WHO CARES!
PS- Saw your Bridesmaid flip-flops! Love that Idea probably going to steal it from you...

Red definitely stands out. We initially thought about red BM dresses. (We went with Platinum instead)
The only concern I'd have with Tiffany blue BM dresses and a red MOH dress is the MOH will stand out, probably even more than the bride.
The difference with doing EVERYONE in red dresses, is that the bride is the one who is 'different' so she still stands out. If there's a red and a white mixed into the blue, the one who is different AND brighter/bolder will stand out the most in pics. I'd prefer the bride stand out, rather than the MOH.
My MOH is in a different dress that compliments the BM dresses, but they are all in the same color and material.

Same here! I want my girls to stand out and for everyone to know that they are bridesmaids! I love red dresses!

Use crazy glue or it will not work! We went through several glue types before it worked!

all of my girls are actually wearing the apple color from davids...my MOH is in a different dress but is so similar to the other girls you can hardly tell...maybe you can try something like that...personally i dont like the red with the blue dresses and i think its bc it does make it pop a lot in the pic you put up but its totally up to you it doesnt look terrible but it does stand out from everyone else....you can always go try em on..the dresses are going to look differnet when you have them on than they do in the pic...they prob pop more in the pic bc the red in the pic on the comp is so much more brighter than in person
