There is so much I would want to say to him I don't know if I could cut it down so short. We haven't really discussed it though..

Re: Is anyone writing their own vows??
We thought about it and he was like NO WAY! THANK GOD we didn't go through with it lol I was soo nervous and emotional that I actually stuttered! lol
I did however personalize our vows...
when you go to pre-cana, you're given a booklet which is where you pick all the verses, ring ceremony words, opening and closing from.. it's like you can make your own little script of what you, your fiance and the priest say, so I just personalized it that way..

Re: Is anyone writing their own vows??
I thought about it but we decided against it. Like Marcellabella said, our priest gave us the 'together for life' book which gives you different choices for readings, vows, ring ceremony, etc. so you can customize it a bit otherwise the priest does it his own way.

Oh really? Now that is something I did not know. Ok, that's probably better. You are right, I will be an emotional stuttering mess and won't be able to get through it.
Thanks girls!!

Re: Is anyone writing their own vows??
WE DID! It was great. We had a rather non-religious ceremony anyway, and his mom was our minister...so it was already really personal and we wanted to make it more personal. Some of his were actually funny:) and so were mine. At one point I put them down and just said what was in my heart. People said it was the most moving ceremony they'd been to.

We Did
We did both traditional then our personal vows. It was wonderful b/c we kept them from each other, so hearing him say his vows for the first time to me at the ceremony was so special.

Re: Is anyone writing their own vows??
We want to personalize our vows...neither of us are sure we can keep composure while reciting our *own* vows so we thought we'd incorporate a little bit of this and a little bit of that to make it personal.
(FHs cousin is a Monsingor(sp?) so he's hoping that dear ole cuz will perform the ceremony as a favor (we're marrying outside the chursh)...but keep it as religious-free as possible (at my request). We'll see what happens - FH hasn't actually *asked* the Msgr yet...... )

Re: Is anyone writing their own vows??
we are writing our own vows, and we are basing them on the older traditional vows.... For example, I am having an excerpt from the celtic wedding vows, and from the Aztec wedding prayer.

Re: Is anyone writing their own vows??
We plan on writing our own vows. In addition, we have asked three close friends to provide testaments of love, friendship and loyalty (we've been together for 7 years so..what else can you call it?) instead of readings from the bible, etc. Neither of us are very religous and we really wanted to personalize our wedding. So, we have also asked each of our friends to write their own reading, which they will let us see ahead of time, just in case they put something in that we may not want mentioned (all three of the friends have seen us at both our very worst and very best). I truly doubt anyone would do that though.
