Is being pregnant like you thought it would be?

Original post by michele31

I always had a vision of what I thought being pregnant would be like and how I would react to it. Honestly, I never thought the weight would bother me nearly as much as it really does. I LOVE feeling the baby kick and hearing the baby's heartbeat but I always figured I would like that.
anyone else?

I just loved being pregnant and really miss it!! I guess I had a pretty good pregnancy overall. I have to say that being a MOTHER is very different than I thought it would be!!

I am not preggo, but the belly expanding is one of my major fears and major weight gain. Everybody has their fears and as much I know I might be happy being pregnant, and is still looking forward to it, I still have my fears. I know this is normal

For the most part, I've enjoyed being pregnant. Although I thought I was in the clear when I had no morning sickness my 1st trimester it really kicked in during my 2nd (and it wasn't just in the morning). But I got through that and now I am enjoying feeling the baby move around and I just can't believe that she will be here so soon! Of course there are some days when I'm just uncomfortable and I have getten really tired which I did not really expect...and that's been hard since Roland is still not home, but I know it will all be worth it when we finally get to meet our little so on those though days I just try to remind myself of that.

wow...this is an OLD thread!! LOL

I admit I loved being pregnant, from the very first day I saw a positive test!! Even though at the time I was nauseous around the clock and couldn't stay up past 7 pm, just the idea of another little person being in my womb thrilled me beyond words! I would have to say the second trimester was the most enjoyable....my stomach was finally getting round, I felt the flutters of my daughter moving, proving to me that there really was another life inside of me, I had an ultrasound telling me that I was having a healthy baby girl, and, for the first time in months, I felt WONDERFUL and ENERGIZED...I was glowing on the inside and out!!!

The last month was tough...I had Braxton-Hicks contractions for 4 weeks and every Dr's appt. I was only 2cm dilated. I kept waking up everyday thinking that day would be the day! I went to the hospital 3 times before I was actually in 'real' labor. That was the LONGEST month of my life.

Labor...oh boy....that was NOTHING like I imagined...other than the fact it was long, exhausting, and painful! But I won't go into details....you expecting ladies don't need to hear about it from me!
But the moment I was least prepared for was when she was born. I had my eyes closed throughout the time I was pushing. When she was delivered I remember someone (maybe my Mom) telling me to open my eyes. The sight of my daughter lying on my chest is permanently embedded in my mind. How I cried!!! That was the best moment of my life. For the first time in 9 months I understood the reality of human creation. I was now a MOTHER!!!

No pregnancy certainly was not what I thought either. However the weight has not bothered me too much. Everyday I am shocked to see the scale go up, but ultimatly expected it. I hate to say that I really don't enjoy being pregnant. It's been a rough 9 months thus far. I do LOVE feeling her grow, kick and squirm inside of me... I LOVE the fact that she's all mine right now....but I just have had such a hard time with MS and everything else that comes along with being pregnant...
Is this awful to say? I feel so guilty at times saying it out loud

Wow, this really is an old thread -- how ironic that it was first started around the time that I actually went into labor!!!

I LOVED being pregnant and actually miss it a lot. I know, I'm probably the weirdo. Despite having GD and some 'it could only happen to me' symptoms, I had a great pregnancy.

Granted, I hated the weight gain, but I really didn't gain that much (my problem was BEFORE I got pregnant ) and once I was diagnosed with GD, I kept losing weight each week. (I should probably go on the GD diet now to lose weight! )

I loved each and every kick (and the Bear Cub is STILL kicking away -- future River Dancer, I swear)!!!

For all the bad things that I had, which were few, the good aspects of being pregnant far outweighed them!!

Sure, I wouldn't want to walk down 49 floors and home from Manhattan again while 9 mos. preggo in a heatwave, but at least I know that I could do it!!!

I'm looking forward to my next pregnancy, whenever that'll be. Watch, it'll be 100 times worse!

I actually felt better than I thought that I would. Other than a little ms the first 16 weeks, I felt pretty good. The weight didnt bother me as much once I was CLEARLY pregnant. I have had a much harder time since then with my weight. I have been having a really hard time getting it off.

Towards the end of the pregnancy, the weight started to really bother me. My face really swelled out as well as my feet and my hands.
I cringed every time someone wanted to take my picture.
