so my MOH and my other best friend have been in several weddings each and have quite an assortment of BM dresses.....i really dont want them to drop another 300 bucks on a dress that they'll never wear again.......do you think its totally insane to do black tealength BM dresses and have them either wear a sash or jewelry in hot pink/oranges that will match the flowers????
i know black is totally acceptable now, but usually its a winter color......is it tacky for the summer??? i'm thinking jim hjelm occassions dresses so at least their very fancy, not just a plain old black cocktail dress

thank you! thats what i thought! my mom made a face, which really upset me.....but i'm gonna do what i want anyway.....i really would like chocolate brown, but i dont like how it looks with the black tuxes and i def want black tuxes.....thanks girls =)

I love black t-length dresses for ANYTIME of year. If it's a sat. night wedding you could even have a black tie afair and make it formal. You could alway incorporate more color with a sash or flowers! Go for it!!!

my friends sister had black tea length with huge hot pink sashes and hot pink shoes (sooo cute) with matching flowers- honestly the pink stood out so much that you almost didnt notice 'black' it was a very flattering color with the black

I love the black dresses also...i still havent made up my mind yet and black is def one of my options. I think that parents and grandparents are not used to the idea of black for a wedding its a fairly new/modern idea.

08er crashing, it's true, black is perceived as a very class color, but being that you are having a summer wedding, it might be too hot. when you wear dark colors like that and it's hot, you feel much hotter...so something to think about

thanks for all opinions......it def is something that is non traditional for the older generations.....i think it will look fabulous.........as for the heat......they'll just have to drink a lot!!! hehehe thanks everyone =)

I think black with a sash would look really nice but I do agree with what someone else said about being hot... is your cocktail hour or ceremony outdoors?

just my cocktail hour.....and we're taking pics at Westbury Manor so there are shaded areas and bar service to sit and relax in between pics.

Oh Westbury Manor is pretty much all shaded... I would say black would be fine then, no need to worry about hot bridesmaids!

Dont worry my mom has been making faces at EVERYTHING I mention for the wedding!!
Black is great bc you can wear it anytime and im sure your BP will wear them again.
Just a thought if you were gonna use chocolate brown, you could always have the girls in chocolate brown dresses with a different color sash and have that sash color match the guys vests.
