Re: Is Engagement Ring Insurance needed??

Definately get it insured. Wouldn't you feel better if (knock on wood) anything happened to your ring such as getting lost or stolen it will be replaced?

Re: Is Engagement Ring Insurance needed??

My FI bought insurance on the ring, he said the second he got it. He bought the policy through Chubb, it is a separate policy just for the ring. It is about $300 per year. He told me that it is covered not only for loss but damage. He also said that it is an Agreed Value policy, apparently there are all kinds of policies but you want to purchase one that will replace the same kind of ring. He is a maniac with the research. Before he popped this beautiful ring on me he had it armored from another country and to an independent gemologist. When he told me this I thought he was crazy until a few girls at work told me horror stories about lost and stolen rings. Get insurance, you won't regret it.LOL

Re: Is Engagement Ring Insurance needed??

JMO, but I would definitely get ring insurance... I mean I know no engage girl would want to even think about possibly losing or getting her engagement ring stolen, but things happen unfortunately - so, at least you know that if God forbid something happens - you can get another one, ya know?
Rings are just way too expensive to mess around with.

Re: Is Engagement Ring Insurance needed??

I have insurance through my rental insurance policy. I got mine through Allstate. The rental policy costs anywhere from $200 on up depending upon where you live, what type of security you have, etc. Just like car insurance you can get discounts for say living in a brick building, having dead bolts, smoke alarms, etc.

The e-ring policy is a rider on top of it. Depending upon what your ring appraises for- the policy can be anywhere from $120 on up per year. My ring appraised for $6k and my policy is $125. This covers not only theft but loss (say I knock the stone out and it falls down the drain). Make sure they cover that- b/c it's more likely that is how you would lose it over someone putting a gun to your head and demanding that you take it off.

Re: Is Engagement Ring Insurance needed??

Hi all,

I am an Insurance agent. If you are living with your parents you can insure it under their homeowners Insurance policy until you get a place of you own....

I would reccomened that everyone insure their ring ASAP..

My company goes by replacement value....

Re: Is Engagement Ring Insurance needed??

I waited like 6 months to have it insured. But yes, I think it is a good idea. You can never be too safe!

Re: Is Engagement Ring Insurance needed??

Certainly have it insured asap! Go under your homeowners, your parent's homeowners or a seperate policy (like Chubb). I'd be so afraid to leave my house with the ring without insurance!
