keeping their last name or changing it to FH's.

I really really really dont like FH's last name and i dont see the point of changing it. My grandmother didnt change, my mom didnt change so why should i. FH when we first started dating told me he would never marry someone who wont take his name, but i feel like im giving up part of who i am. Its MY name and i want to keep it.

Thoughts???

I'm taking his last name. Until i got engaged I always just assumed I'd take his last name. Then a month ago I had an attack thinking i am disappearing. So for work , I am probably going to keep my last name, but I will legally take his. its also impt to him that i take it too.

I always said I would never change my last name because I love it and I only have sisters so my last name ends here. My FH told me we would not get engaged until I agreed to change my name. I though about hypenating it but when it comes down to it i'll take his because I know it means so much to him!!

I will be taking FH's last name even though I really don't like it... it'll be less confusing when we have kids and although he won't admit it I think it is important to him. I have two brothers and several male cousins so my last name will be around for a while but I'm pretty sure that he and his brother are the last two with his last name and I'm almost positie no one will ever marry his brother so it is up to us to keep his awful last name alive!!!!

But what you could do is take his last name and just use yours professionally. Like a Celeb!

def taken his last name.. its so short and simple .. i never had that, lol. my last name is sooo long and no one can pronounce it, hahaha.

I am taking his legally, but might keep mine until I decide to go to a different job...it's kinda annoyiing to have to change everything...

But then again I might just bite the bullet and get it over with...

I'm changing my last name. I'm not to crazy about my last name, people can never pronounce it; but then again FH's last name isn't easy for some people either.

I understand what you're say about keeping your last name and if that is how you feel then I think you should keep your last name. And if your FH does not like the idea of keeping your last name then maybe think about hyphenating the names.

i think it's up to what you personally want to do...

i was toying with the idea of hyphenating for a little bit but i have a really long last name to begin with so i dont really want to do that... im going to take his name, i'm a traditionalist, i want to be mrs. so-and-so lol

I'm not changing it legally...b/c i am lazy and i dont see a need to go through the hassle. I will alsokeep my current last name at work. I'll use his socially.
