Yes, I have a decent amount of people from OOT and want to give them the option of the hotel or another relative's house.

I would block rooms just in case. I think you can always cancel 30 days before

We did, I would say 90% of ppl live in the NY tri-state area, but I think its a nice convenience incase some people don't want to drive all the way home. We did it for two days the night before too, for the rehearsal dinner and groomsmen party since FH's family is all from Westchester.
