Is everyone getting parents' gifts?

I figured their album was their 'gift'?

Re: Is everyone getting parents' gifts?

I would consider their album their gift....but we are not getting albums for them. My sisters are paying for my photographer.

We are giving them albums so we are considering that there gift..but we also might frame our invitiation in a nice engraved frame as alittle extra

Fhs parents are getting the album- my mom is getting a brag book - or photo for photo mini replica of my album.

Albums are big in both families so it worked out

we def are getting them something, especially my mom n stepdad cuz they r paying for entire RH costs, my dress, and favors, and anything else they offer along the way

r problem is what to give and how to give it without offending other parents who have yet to contribute???

Re: Is everyone getting parents' gifts?

we are paying for everything for the wedding as of now - FILS will probably throw the RD and maybe pay for the postage for our invites (about $250) - as of now my parents havent pitched in for the wedding.....just because they arent paying for anything wedding related doesnt mean they arent spending money on us - im sure both of our parents are doing a lot for the shower....our parents know that because we are footing the bill for the wedidng its going to be hard for us to get them gifts - i am sure they dont expect anything....im sure after the wedding we will do something special for them but its going to be hard with the cost of the wedding and they understand that....if our parents were paying for everything or even if they were paying for some of our vendors than i would absolultey get them a gift before the wedding because than we would have the funds for it

its so true, i would like to do something big for each set of parents but not sure if we can. I keep waiting to see how things are up until right before. So im thinking if anything we'll do something smaller now and sentimental and then maybe right after do something a little bit bigger. Im playing it by ear now but definitely have to do something sweet and sentimental

Re: Is everyone getting parents' gifts?

my parents told us not to get them anything. I feel bad my mom is paying for my whole shower, paid for my dress and doj, is paying for my sisters 2 dresses (since htey are younger) and i have 2 brothers who are younger that need my mom to pay for their tuxes, my dads tux and my mom's dress.

so i def want to get them something besides their albums

FIL's are paying for the RD so we will get them something as well. But FH's grandma gave us enough $ to cover our honeymoon so I dont know if I should give her a gift at the RD bec my 2 grandmas will be there and i feel bad they wont get anything. But we are getting another album for FHs grandma as a gift.

But....FBIL and his wife bought presents for their parents so I cant tell my mom ok and not get gifts for them but have to get them for FILs since I am sure htey will expect it since FBIL did it.

We are not getting albums from the photographer - getting nice frames after wedding and putting 8x10 pics in them for our moms. My mom said she loves the albums from my older brothes weddings but never really pulls them out. She'll hang the picture. We'll also get albums made from shutterfly for them - very reasonable

Re: Is everyone getting parents' gifts?

Our albums were part of the package, even though we are paying for it, im not counting it as a gift.

FIL's threw our engagement party and the RD.
My parents paid for the reception and my dress. FH and i are paying for everything else.

They have both done so much i am thinking of getting them both rooms in AC for a night or maybe tickets to a play in the city and dinner. I havent figured it out yet.

I think its just going to depend on everyones situation.

Re: Is everyone getting parents' gifts?

We are giving our parents mini-replica's of our wedding album after the wedding but we did want to give them a little something extra. Maybe just something sentimental before the wedding. My parents are throwing me a big shower and are paying for my dress, and everything else that goes along with dressing me the day of the wedding. (DOJ, hair, crown, veil, shoes etc) The problem is my aunt is also helping out with stuff along the way and FH's parents are throwing the RD so then it would be nice to get them all a little something. I know they dont expect anything because they know how hard it is since we are paying for the whole wedding ourselves and also buying a house. I think we will just see how it goes as it gets closer. If we have the money and see something we like we will get it. If not at least they will have the album.
