I heard that you have to give someone at least a penny for the knives so that you are paying for them and they are not a gift.
ALso, I have heard that it's bad luck for the bride and groom to see each other before the wedding.
Another one I head is that couples where the bride has a round stone engagment ring have the longest happiest marriages

I just heard this one-
If it rains on your wedding day, you'll shed many tears during your married life.

Heard its bad luck for the bride to you scissors at her bridal shower, and that someone else cant cut the ribbons and what not for her because that is also bad luck... she has to rip them herself

I heard your supposed to tape pennies to the knives.
I heard that you arent supposed to have any help opening your presents and you must do it on your own and not use any scissors or knives.

i've heard that knives are bad luck to give as a gift in general.
so is a watch, because you're putting time on the relationship.
so are shoes because you person may walk out of your life.

It was told to me that giving pearls or wearing pearls that someone gave you is bad luck for your wedding day.

I've heard the no scissors at the bridal shower thing too. My Mom was adamant about it at my sisters shower.
Also, supposedly if you put a statue of the virgin Mary in your window (facing outwards) it won't rain on your wedding day.

ooohh see i would rather have BF go first...men get so helpless when the wife dies and women are stronger and can take care of themselves...when a mans wife dies he ends up eating pork and beans from the can everynight..at least that is what would happen to stuart.--my mom and my uncle both lost their spouses within 6 months of each other last year and my uncle needed to have people do his laundry, order his food shopping and water his plants(that was my job)--he needed to find a gf, which he now has. my mom on the other hand, took charge of the finances (something my dad always did) the houses (we have 2) and her 2 younger kids (she doesnt need to take care of me)...so the poor men cant do it on their own...i actually hope that we die relatively close to each other, so the other doesnt have to suffer...ok done being so morbid!

Well there goes the idea of getting a Movado for my anniversary next month!
However, I don't believe in any of these tall tales. I heard rain is good luck on a wedding day. Well, if it's good luck then why did someone I know get divorced right away?????
