I accidentally posted this in the Brides Helping Brides area - but nobody ever replies to my posts on that board.... Hoping one of you guys will offer advice or comments...
We are getting married at the RH early on a Saturday. I assume it will be like a 15 minute ceremony - no readings, etc. Just a quickie.
The majority of our BP, including us, are coming from out of town. Because it's a RH, we can't practice the evening before as there will be a wedding going on that Friday night. They said we can do it on like a Wed night - but making people come out to LI on a Wed sounds horrible - we have people from Vermont, NH and Albany in the wedding! They said we MAY be able to do it on the Friday but it'd have to be early, like noon, but I don't want to force people to take that day off and rush out to LI for a noon rehearsal when they can't even check into their hotel rooms that early.
The Reverend said we can just rehearse right before the ceremony since it's pretty cut and dry. Sad part about that is FH sees me before the actual wedding. That kind of bums me out a little.
What would you guys do? Should I just tell people, we practice at Noon if the RH let's us - end of story?

Re: Is it bad to not rehearse?
i would def do a rehersal...most weddings are on the weekend, so the rehersal would be during the week anyway....it is good to let the bp know the flow of everything so they dont look lost the day of. i dont think your bridal party would mind coming out on a weekday.

Re: Is it bad to not rehearse?
No, it's not bad to NOT rehearse. I have been in 4 weddings and have only rehearsed for 2. Honestly, you don't really need to, especially since you are getting married at the RH. Usually you don't rehearse unless you are getting married at a church, from my experience anyway! You can go over it a few minutes before the ceremony. Plus they line you up and the bridal attendant or someone usually stands in the doorway and tells you when to go! It's not that difficult!
PS- I'm not having a rehearsal. I forgot to mention that above!

FH wouldn't have to see you. The Reverend could come to speak to each of you separately before the ceremony. And then you would be at the end of the line when you walk down. HTH

Re: Is it bad to not rehearse?
Thank you! I don't feel so bad. My friend did the same thing, quick run through beforehand. I also think it's kinda messed up that I would have to pay the hall $50 to hang with us if we do it on another day. I'm already paying them $500 to get married there. Ha ha! Gotta save wherever I can, ya know?
We are doing a pre-wedding dinner with the OOT guests/BP since they will need to be at the hotel the night before the wedding. We just can't call it a rehearsal dinner.

Re: Is it bad to not rehearse?
i would have the rehersal the day it is available during the week, whoever can't make it - it really won't be too much a big deal as long as you & fh are at the rehersal i'm sure most of the people in your BP will attend and if not someone can brief them on what they have to do especially since you said it maybe a 15 minute ceremony no one will be lost that day .

Re: Is it bad to not rehearse?
I don't think it is necessary, however, if you have the opportunity to do it, I don't htink it would hurt to do a dry run. I happen to emarass easily and my face turns red at the drop of a dime, so the main purpose of the rehearsal for me is so that I don't screw up, lol!!
But I wouldn't ask your guests to come into town early for it. Maybe you can just sort of write everything out and give everyone a copy to read over. As you said, it will be short, no readers, etc.
good luck!

Yeah, why should you have to pay to be there another night? That's silly!
My friend (who got married a few weeks ago) wanted to have a dinner for the BP and family, but didn't have a rehearsal. So she called it a 'Thank You' Dinner. We all got together for dinner at a restaurant, they gave the BP their gifts and that was it. There was no rehearsal, just a run through the day of the wedding.

That's a great idea. I forgot you give gifts at the dinner - so it makes sense.

Re: Is it bad to not rehearse?
at a catering hall you run through the ceremony right before everyone shows up so really there is no rehersal. You save time and money so really no need.

Re: Is it bad to not rehearse?
I think for your situation rehersing before at the hall would be fine. Just have everything organized (readers, all ceremony, etc) and go over parts with anyone individually before the day. Of course you and FH will meet with your officiant before so that will be fine.

Re: Is it bad to not rehearse?
We're in the same situation. We and about half of the bridal party are OOT. We are getting married at our hall on a Sunday and can't rehearse there Fri night, sat day, sat night, etc.
We are having a 'rehearsal dinner' on Sat night, and are considering doing a mini run-through (very low key) at the dinner since we will be having the rehearsal dinner at the OOT hotel. Just explaining what happens, etc. If we dont do that we'll just get instructions before the wedding day of. We will be seeing eachother first for pictures.

We're in the same boat, and we're not rehearsing. Lol I think my friends and family are smart enough to walk down an asile w/o practicing first!!
