lishbone, I agree with you completely. Who cares. No one sees your feet anyway and if they do... who really cares. I am either wearing sneakers or slippers. Its the most beautiful day of my life and I would like to be comfortable and enjoy it completely. I say go for it!!

Re: is it cheesy to wear bridal sneakers?
I cannot wear heels nor do I plan to. My arches are too high and I wear orthotics in my shoes as it is. I must wear a shoe with a soft sole. No matter how high or low the heel is, a hard bottomed shoe always causes excruciating pain. I will not under any circumstances be a slave to fashion on the most exciting day of my life for the sake of elegance. Comfort outweighs elegance any day. If it means wearing a ballet slipper or a sneaker so be it.
Besides, if my own mother tells me to wear sneakers then scr*w any guest of mine who has something to say.

I agree with suffering for one day - it's your wedding...sneakers do not belong at a wedding!!! Yes, totally tacky - shoes can make or break your look...if you don't care what you look like on your wedding day, then yeah - go for the sneakers.
I just think that so much time and effort and money is spent on a wedding and that sneakers just don't fit into the big picture.

Re: is it cheesy to wear bridal sneakers?
I dont think so, Im wearing keds. My mom got me white keds and has decorated them with lace and pearls and took the laces off and used organza for the laces.
I will wear small heels for the ceremony, but will change right before the reception. I have terrible pains on my feet after a while from wearing heels. I used high heels all my teen years and most of my early adult life and I ruined my feet.
I want to enjoy my day and dance the night away. I know that wont be possible with heels on.
Most of the weddings Ive gone to, I can tell that by 9Pm the bride is in pain. My cousins both were limping around and still complain about their pain. You can see them limping and moving slowly on their video. I dont want that for me.
Everyone has praised me for being clever and having my sneakers ready (I still got a way to go for the wedding but that was one of the first things I needed done!)
I also think of Father of the Bride(modern version) she also wore sneakers and I though it was adorable! Actually thats were I got my idea from. Ive known since that movie came out, I would wear sneakers.
Maybe Im a baby and dont know to sacrifice, but I think Im sacrificing enough being on a 1000 calorie a day to loose weight so that I can fit into my gown. (well more or less today I had Mcdonalds , Dont tell my mom!!)

NOT cheesy at all. When the reception came, I put sneakers on. I wanted to be comfy

Re: is it cheesy to wear bridal sneakers?
I've seen lots of girls do that! In fact, someone I work with made them for her sister and her sister made them for her. They were getting married like 2 months apart so it was really nice and sentimental.

I agree. If people are going to look more at my feet than my face, they can stay home.

IMO...yes it is cheesy and takes away from the elegance from a dress
I have to agree that it takes from the elegance. If my feet hurt, I'll have a pair of low heeled or flat shoes to wear. No sneakers...

I think there are other options, besides the sneakers, that would be better. I am bringing flip flops. I think they are cuter and less noticeable than sneakers. Also, whomever posted the slippers, those are really cute, too.

If people have nothing better to do than look at your feet, then they should go home!
It's your day! Do what will make you happy!
Enjoy!

I saw these at Macy's yesterday and thought they were adorable! Comfy, but I went with a pair that I'd wear again instead.
cheesey is a relative term. if you like it, wear it. me- no i dont happen to like sneakers with a gown but if i did, you can bet your butt i will wear them. so wear what makes you happy! people might make a comment but tell them to shove it -its your day and your way!

This is a really hurtful statment! I cared what I looked like. If I didn't I would have gotten my hair/makeup done. I wouldn't have bought a dress. BUt I also wanted to enjoy my party and heels would not have been the way to enjoy it for me. I can't even wear heels to work. They hurt. Some people can and some peole can't. BUT don't tell me I don't care what I look like. As if im a slob.

I agree.. that comment was totally uncalled for. Im all for doing WHATEVER YOU WANT BECAUSE ITS YOURRRRRRR DAY!! I am thinking about changing into something more comforable but that all depends on what shoes I find to begin with. Hopefully I can find a pair that I am comfortable enough in to wear the whole day.

Re: is it cheesy to wear bridal sneakers?
I wore the white chinese slippers under my dress towards the end of the night...my dress actually became a lot longer, so I don't think anyone even noticed except my photographer who took a picture of my feet in them!!
