Is it considered rude...

not to have a RD or morning after brunch?....

It's just really hard to organize and everyone is so resistant to staying in the hotel..... Is everyone having one and should I?

I don't think it's rude at all. Are you getting married at the reception hall - if that's the case, then I don't think a RD is expected. I love the idea of a morning after brunch, but honestly, I've never gone to a wedding where one was held. I think they're both extras, so I won't worry about not being able to have them.

Good Luck!!!

Forgot to say - we're having a RD - only b/c the church requires a rehearsal. I wanted to have a morning after breakfast, but we have to leave the hotel by 4am to catch our flight. Didn't think most guests would want to be up that early

I don't think it is. We're not having RD, and wouldn't have a brunch, but FMIL insists on hosting it, so we're letting her do that. If she didn't, then we probably wouldn't have any brunch.

I'm not sure what it says in terms of etiquette.

I don't think that a morning after brunch is necessary, but I think that something should be done for the attendants. Whether it be a formal
sit-down RD or evenan in-home casual sort of thing, the people that agree to be in your wedding party, and your parents deserve some show of appreciation.

i don't think a morning after brunch is necessary. It's nice if a lot of people are from out of town, but it's not rude to not have one.

As for the RD, I wouldn't say it's rude to not have one, but I do think it's a nice way to spend some quality time with your family and people in the bridal party before the wedding. If you are not having an actual rehearsal, it can just be who ever is around comes otherwise, it's no big deal. You wouldn't have to worry about coordinating everyone. It can also be as casual or as elegant as you want to make it.

I didn't have one, I got married in a church in Queens and the reception was in Suffolk County and most of the wedding party was from out east and it was impossible to get everyone together for a rehearsal at the church , during the week!

I am not having either.

I am getting married at the hall so it is not really necessary and as for a brunch do not have the extra $$$$.

I had a RD - the in-laws hosted it - the night before. My mom really wanted to host a morning-after brunch but I talked her out of it... people were probably too tired/hung over and I didn't want to have to go to her house on the way back from the hotel... plus the amount she was spending to have it catered was OBSCENE and she paid for the wedding already so I thought it was a bit much.

I don't think it's rude either. We're not having one because we can't really have a rehearsal since we are doing everything at the hall. No one has told me they'll miss it!

I do plan on taking my bridesmaids for dinner, with the mom's...during the week before the wedding.

I don't think that it is rude. I am going to have a rehearsal dinner but not a following morning brunch. My FILs are going to take care of the rehearsal dinner.

I don't think its rude not to have it...or that it is expected...just fun...

would you consider asking people to come to the brunch who wer not at the hotel? or paying for a continental breakfast for the few guests who do stay at the hotel?

Re: Is it considered rude...

Its not rude at all. These things are not normally expected(esspecially morning after brunch). I think its a personal choice that every bride needs to make for herself. I am mostly having them beacause for one other people have offered to pay for them(FIL's are paying for RD & mom is paying for brunch). Also my FH's immediate family is literally scattered all over country(no one lives even in the same state) so we will really enjoy having all this time together(in the 6 & a half years FH & I have been together we have only seen his immediate family all at the same time during 2 other occasions, FMIL 50th B-day & FSIL's wedding).
