to have the bridal shower the same weekend as the wedding?

I had a chat with my MOH last night and based on the time and financial constraints of several OOT VIPs, it's the only way to really ensure that all the important people can get there.

My MOH had mentioned that doing shower and bachelorette party both in March might get a majority of the important people there, but she said it could be a financial stress on many people. Wouldn't the shower and wedding the same weekend be even more so?

Any opinions appreciated!

Forget about the financial stress for people, think of the stress you will be under.

Is the wedding on Sunday and you are thinking of having the shower on Saturday? Sounds like a lot to have going on at that same time. Plus then it is two gifts back to back for everyone..
I have the same issue with my OOT MOH, but I am planning a bridal luncheon on the Friday before the rehersal. Probably will have my shower some weeks before with only the local BP and family

Re: Is it crazy...

Wedding is Sunday and my MOH was talking about a Friday night shower.

In some ways, I feel it might be good for me, because people I really want there (FMIL, FSIL) will likely not be able to make it any other time. But, chances are, I will have to work that Friday, so that will be a little stressful. And I'm *sure* there will be last minute details that need to be handled. AND I don't know what to do about the rehearsal (but if we want to do that at the hall Fri night and Sat aren't options anyway...).

Still, I'm most concerned with the financial stresses on others.

The only stress I would be worried about the weekend of the wedding is your stress. I can tell you I was a basket case the weekend of my wedding. Even though I had everything in order I felt like nothing was in order. I personally think you will have too much to do and too much on your mind to deal with a shower that weekend. But that was just me, everyone is different.

My MOH also mentioned doing the bachelorette that weekend and the shower another time, but I feel like that would be even worse. Girls would be exhausted if we were out late, not up for two big parties in one weekend, etc.

PLUS, it doesn't really solve the financial issue OR the issue of FMIL/FSIL missing the shower...

I agree. It might be way too much to jam into such an important weekend.

I do think having the shower & wedding in the same weekend is a lot on both you and your guests. (You may even cut yourself short on gifts from people who maybe arent the best planners and dont buy your shower gift ahead of time.) But my cousin got married on a saturday and her bachelorette was the wednesday night before but it was low key. I guess it depends on how big of a bachelorette party you're planning but unless your out drinking until 5am, I think the shower is a more tiring day in general. Could you do a small shower with your in laws when they come in for the wedding?

ITA. I have seen bachelorette parties/ Shower weekends. Everyone goes out on a Friday night and the Shower can be Sunday so there's a day of rest in between.

I just think that doing a shower and a wedding in the same weekend will give you a lot of anxiety. I know it would fry my nerves.

definitely way too much the week of the wedding. people who can make the shower will be there - and those who cant will send a gift. the shower in itself was extremely stressful for me. and so was the week of the wedding.

I personally think it is too much too close together. I feel like if I was a guest and had to give a shower gift the same weekend as the wedding,it would be a financial stressor, but also for the wedding to take up someones entire weekend I feel is asking a lot. Plus I feel like I would have so many last minute things to do, like drop offs to the venue & rehersal dinner, that it would cause me too much stress.

Way too much for the same weekend. I honestly even think it's way too much for the same month LOL.

ITA!!! Not everyone will be able to make all of the festivites. Just be thankful for those who can make it. The last 4 weeks before your wedding are really busy and you will be running out.

i agree with a lot of the above comments that it might be too much stress for one weekend. even for the wedding party and other VIP guests who might be helping you out with things for the wedding. A shower and bachelorette party weekend, having those together but separate from the wedding, might be ideal.

Ultimately it's up to you but I think it is too much for you and financially for your guests.

I also agree with ladies above. I know I'll be stressing about the weekend hardcore for a month before. I totally wouldn't want it all at once! Plus, again, it can be difficult for some people to spend money on a gift for the shower and a gift for your wedding in just a few days!

I agree with the ladies! That is way too much for one weekend.
