Hi, I was thinkign about renting a suite at the Garden City hotel to stay the night before my wedding.
I wanted my MOH and BMs to sleep over so that way when hair and make-up arrive they will all be there. They are never on time! I also thought it would be nice to have the night before my wedding with my best friends.
Question: Is it right to ask them to help pay for the room? The room is very expensive and I cannot pay for it on my own. We are paying for the wedding on our own and to add another $759.00 is unnecessary. I need to book a large room to accommodate everyone. No one has a place that is big enough or that has a nice enough background for pictures.
What do you think?
Thanks

My girls and I are staying at a hotel as well the night before, but by choice of their own. I was going either way with my MOH and then they decided lets all make a night out of it and hang.
If you are asking them to do it because you are afraid they wont be there on time, then I don't think you should ask them for $$.

No
This is really a convenience for you, not them. Then you want to book a very expensive room.
It does not sound quite fair to them.

Hi I am actually renting two rooms for the night ~ with 4 double beds... (+ i am going to bring my aero matress if i need) I am putting it out there for my girls to stay if they want to ~ giving them the option to stay over night with me ~ I am hoping a couple of the girls will stay... but i am paying for the two rooms! (we are paying for our wedding also but I have been putting alittle bit of money away away every week for it)

No it is not okay to ask them to pay. Maybe you could find a cheaper hotel..instead of the Garden City Hotel.

I think the poll is a bit ambiguous bc you ask if it is wrong to ask BMs to pay but the subject is should BMs have to pay for....

Re: Should BMs have to pay for.........
Well it's partly because of that, but mostly because I thought it would be nice for all of us to hang out as single ladies for the last time.
I don't want them to have to pay for it, but I don't think I can swing it with everything else.
I feel guilty with this whole wedding. I feel like I put a financial burden on everyone, I know I shouldn't feel that way, but some of my BMs as well as my family members are making me feel bad.
On one hand I know that everyone is in a different financial postition and things are hard these days, but on the other hand, it is my special day. They should be happy for me, not complaining.
I never win!

I agree. I voted no but, I should've voted yes...
I don't think it's right to ask them to help foot the bill, if they volunteer it's one thing but, I wouldn't ask.
Maybe look into a smaller suite or other hotels in the area that are a little less expensive.

I voted wrong.... I read the topic of the post and not the topic of the poll. I don't think it's fair to ask them to chip in for the hotel room. If you want to stay there, then that's your business. If you tell them that you are staying and they all say that they would stay with you, then it's a different story. But you shouldn't ask them for money.

Thanks ladies. I am going to keep on looking for something cheaper.
It is so hard. I have been getting these crazy prices.
Two rooms doesn't sound like a bad idea as lonf as they are on the same floor. I think that might work.

Re: Should BMs have to pay for.........
if you want the suite, you should pay for it. don't forget the expenses your bm's incur for YOUR day - dresses, shoes, hair, makeup, bridal shower, shower gift, bachelorette party, wedding gift -
I think the results to your poll are inaccurate, too - so far, we all have give the same answer - but your poll is pretty evenly split - I think because it is worded 'is it wrong...' but your post is titled 'should bms have to pay...' - I bet if you reworded the question - you'd find that most, if not all of us agree - they should not have to pay for the suite at the Garden City Hotel.

No offence but this is quite selfish.
On one hand you say you understand about the room being expensive (over $700!!!!!!), about others being in a different financial position... but then you said it's you day and everyone should be happy for you.
Well, I am not sure spending $700-800 on a room to 'spend one more night together' is the way to make anyone happy. They could be happy for you without having to prove it financially.
And since you don't think you can afford it yourself financially what makes you think your BP can?

Re: Is it fair to ask BMs to chip in....?
Don't get me wrong, I am in no way selfish. What I did not mention is that some people in my bridal party and family have complained about everything! Money, time and location. I am sick of it!
I have been more than accomadating. I have tried to get them the best prices on everything. I told them I don't even want a Baccerlote party. Some are telling me that they do not want to pay for their hair and make-up or that they want to wear shoes that look like sneakers. They are driving me crazy.
I had a feeling that it would be unfair. That is why I posted it on here. Just to ask................................ Last time I checked there was nothing wrong with that.
The Garden City hotel was one place that I went to that was a good location for everyone. Since I have had complaints about traveling.
I kind of feel attacked. Geez--it was just a question. I think calling someone selfish based on a post is way off base.
I realized the poll was unclear--that is why I closed it!
I am sorry I asked!
Thanks for your help!

I'm in the same boat as you, but I'm paying for all my BM's and myself to stay in a bridal suite the night before my wedding. If you don't have the cash to swing the expense, then why don't you find something cheaper? If you want to stay at the Garden City hotel, you can't expect them to pay for a room that will cost them a lot of money on top of the extra expenses to be in the party. How about getting a few rooms that will be in your budget? Taking pics in a suite won't do as much justice as taking pics in the hotel lobby such as the Garden City hotel. HTH and good luck!

Thanks.....that's what I am probably going to do. I am going to look at a place closer to the church. My girls live in Queens and LI and someone suggested The Garden City Hotel and The Inn at Great Neck.
I have also looked at the Holiday Inn and some other place in Queens, but they looked run down and over priced too.
Maybe I can get two connecting rooms.
Where do you plan on staying if I may ask?
Thanks again

honestly, i don't think that you should ask/expect them to chip in for the suite.. they don't have to stay there.. they can early in the morning. I am staying in a bridal suite the weekend of the wedding.. and most of my Bridal Party will be staying with me the night before.. and I don't want them to pay for that... and I really don't expect for them to pay for either..
