Is it just me?

...or are the rugs in most receptions halls just AWFUL?! This was actually a big part of my search for reception halls because I think some of them are just SO bad...and they never match the feel of the room. Why can't they ever just be neutral?! Like, one or two colors....no hoopla designs that don't match anything...SIMPLE?

Ugh...The boards were a little slow, so I felt the need to get this off my chest LOL venting over now, thanks!!

Nope, totally know what you are talking about. That's one of the reasons FH and I refused to have the reception in a ballroom. The flippen rugs. Ugh. Some of them are just so

ugh THANK YOU! I'm glad it's not just me....

lol i always thought that...i've seen some places whose decor was almost as bad as a funeral home. idk why they chose carpeting that doesn't match the walls and chairs.

thankfully we have a black, neutral rug. we also have a huge ugly mural though, so there's that haha

I know! I hate that too! But I think its to make staining less noticeable with all the spilled food/drinks. Too bad there arent more places with all wood floor or something.....

One place in particular I went to, I turned to the guy and basically said you expect brides and grooms to actually pay $$ to have their guests sit in a room with stained carpets and tears? Plus it was UGLYY! Ithere are a bunch of girls on here that are getting married at this place and I just couldn't get out of there fast enough!

i'm laughing hysterically over here and i can't wait to tell my fiance that i'm not the only one. we went to a few reception halls and i said the rugs were terrible. when we went to crest hollow, which is where my wedding is, my fiance said, 'does this rug meet your standards?'

LOL honestly that was the last thing I noticed - i guess mostly b/c our RH doesnt have a lot of carpet - most of the room is the dancefloor and that is hardwood floors... where there is carpet its either covered with tables/chairs or in the lobby area.

i personally feel it fits our FH but i agree - they probably pick a crazy pattern b/c it hides stains better. even a solid dark color would show stains... also one color would be hard for brides to 'match' at least if its a pattern w/ more then one color it might make it easier

However - a friend of mine (who is a poster on here but not that much) mentioned this to me before a while ago so you guys arent alone lol

If guests are paying more attention to the rugs in the RH than everything else that's going on, it must not be a great wedding LOL

i agree - THANKFULLY the rug at my place is like an ivy pattern and it totally matches the spring feel that I'm going for

but i went to look at Stuart Thomas manor and the GOLD tones chandeliers .... and Gold beams up the walls... i hate hate hate brassy gold
it had a 'knights of Columbus' feel ... i couldn't stomach it

Agreed! They all have some weird friggen prints on them... Like wth? haha

I wanted to book a VERY popular castle in Westchester and my Dh said no b/c he didn't like the carpet. I was like 'who cares its a CASTLE' He was dead set against it. It was an all off white tile floor where we got married.
