is it mean to say that i hate my sister!?!?!?

Original post by aliwnec10

Okay so let me just apologize for being such an a*s in the beginning. I have not had any real drama (except for making my FMIL cry when we said we weren't getting married in a church) during this whole wedding process. Whenever i saw a post about family drama on this website... i was always so lucky that it wasn't me!

WELL... i have less than 2 months to go for this wedding. 3 weeks ago was my shower and my older sister decided not to show up. I should also mention that i have not heard from her since then either (no phone call to say sorry or to ask how it went). Now i talked to her the day before the shower and all was well.

So... yesterday she calls me at work none the less. I told her that i couldn't talk right now. Then she goes... 'well you really need to call me back because the girls (my nieces, my FG's) are very upset right now. They don't understand why i'm not in the wedding and why they are. They think it's very unfair. You need to call them and do the right thing because right now, they don't want to be in your wedding.' My response... 'i have to go.' CLICK

Are you freakin kidding me??? There are so many things wrong with this. My nieces are 6 & 8 years old... am i to believe that they thought this up on their own??? Now with less than 2 months for this wedding... she wants to bring this up now? We were engaged for 16 months prior and she had 16 months to mention this. She knew way back when that she wouldn't be in the wedding (she's 44... 19 years older and we've had our differences. we actually stopped talking for 2 years and have recently starting talking again). Now i'm all for not doing what's expected, but whomever wrote the rule that family members HAVE to be in the wedding... should be shot!!!! I mean my SIL isn't in the wedding and i have 3 brothers and only 1 is in the wedding. Not to mention that she complained about spending $200 total for the FG dresses...

I'm just so done. I don't play this game and i cannot believe that she involved her daughters in this.

vent over.

It sounds like she is just trying to create chaos.

Yeah well i try to live my life chaos free!

She is just a very difficult person to deal with. No one else in my family talks to her anymore. I'm it and she's pulling this with me? She is just so self absorbed and thinks that the world revolves around her. She runs around on a daily basis like a chicken with its head cut off and there's no reason for it. She doesn't work and the girls go to school all day or camp in the summer... so??? And of course because i don't have kids (her words)... i have NOTHING going on in my life. GGrrr....

I have decided to get throught the wedding and afterwards cut all ties...

You should just remember that this day is about you and your FH and don't let her dramaa and negativity bring you down.

Oh she's not being put in the wedding! I'm at the point where i have other major stuff going on in my life and this is becoming quite petty and is quite low on my list of priorities. So i'm ready to tell her to stay home the day of the wedding and i'd like the girls to be in it, but if not... oh well. That was her choice.

I am sorry to hear that you are going through this two months before your wedding and to put the little ones in the middle is not nice! Just remember it is you & FH's day...

I have 5 (1/2 brothers) and we only asked one of them (we asked twice) and he said no twice. (he actually introduced me and FH ~ we are close) so I am not having any siblings on my side in my wedding party!

Good Luck!

Excuse us all while the world stops and we focus on your sister!

What is that about? I am so sorry that you have to deal with this nonsense. Given the circumstances I would wait it out a bit but if things don't turn around I would talk to the girls. Kids are so easily swayed. Just let them know that you made your choices a long time ago and decided that only certain people would be in the wedding party. Remind them how excited you are to have them involved and how beautiful they will look. Put the focus back on them and if you get the chance tell you sister to shut the f*ck up!

It's your wedding, Your decision who is in your BP.
I would honestly talk to your sister and tell her exactly what you told us. 'We're not close, we weren't talking to each other, you had 16 months to bring this up to me, now the wedding is 2 months away and there's nothing that can be done.' Also, she might spite you by not letting your nieces be in the wedding, so I would have a back up plan for your FG's. I have 2 half sisters and one I'm extremely close with and the other I do not talk to at all. I asked one of them to be my maid of honor and I didn't ask the other one to be in the wedding at all! I understand your decision. You should have people who love you, support you and are there for you in life. IF that's not the case with your sister so be it. Good luck I hope everything turns out alright!
XOXOXO

I have gotten to the point where I just tell people if you don't like it don't come, it's easier. I'm just getting sick and tired of people stressing me out over my wedding so I am becoming a witch to everyone.

I think you have a right to be mad, just remember you don't have to put anyone you don't want in your wedding party and don't let her guilt trip you. Feel better, she is being inappropriate.

I guess this is why you should never post anything about family or friends on here. You never know who is lurking on the board.

I'm sorry, it's way too close to your wedding to even entertain this idea. Maybe you can give them the programs to hand out in the back of the church as people arrive?
