Is it really that tacky to wear...(With Poll!)

My question is how come everybody says it's so tacky to wear stocking with open toe shoes? I always make sure the seam doesn't show. But people tell me that it's not at all in style! I think my pale legs, and the blisters from not wearing stockings looks worse LOL. Is it really as tacky, everybody around me seems to thinks? Please let me know.

P.S. I'm going to be wearing open toe shoes for my wedding, and was definitely going to wear them, but now I don't know. I don't want to be out of style, especially on my wedding. Thanks ladies.

I personally LOATHE this. However, if you want to wear stockings w/open toe shoes - they ahve the toe-less (footless) ones...that's fine in my book.

i buy the toeless ones too - berkshire, calvin klein, and donna karen makes them - I LOVE THEM! I esp like the donna karen ones - and century 21 sells them cheap!

I've seen toeless, and thought about them. But then aren't my toes going to be a totally different color from the rest of my legs?

Also forgot to ask, why exactly is it so bad to do this? Thanks ladies.

Definitely buy the toe-less stockings.


I bought them at macy's and wore them for my e-party (because I had a funky allergic reaction/rash). You couldn't even tell!

I don't like to wear them with open toe shoes either, but I can't imagine not wearing stockings on my wedding day (just my preference for me). I will have to really think about this, because before right now I never even gave it a thought.

You should always take your time to match the stockings to your skin tone...they have sooooo many colors out there, there's no excuse. Obviously, unless you're going w/off-black or white stockings...but the nude colored ones...they're available in virtually every color.

As far as why it's so bad to do this - I think it's a personal opinion...open-toes shoes are just that - meant to shoe your cute toes and pedi...There are plenty of closed toe shoes out there to wear with stockings...no need to wear the open-toe shoes (which are technically sandals, and worn during warmer weather) w/stockings.

I have worn pantyhose with open toed shoes exactly once in my life - and those were toeless pantyhose.

You wear what you are comfortable with and if wearing stockings makes you feel better then please wear them!

I hate it too, and my job required us to wearing stockings at all times. Finally last year they revamped the dress code. BUT if you feel more comfortable in them I agree with the toeless idea. Just really try to match them to you skin.

they have the new stockings with the holes cut out for your toes if you relaly want to wear stockings

Wow! I didn't realize it was that bad to wear them! I guess I am that out of style! I am totally going to look into the ones without the toes though! Thanks for this tip.

Can you tell me where I can get them for a cheap price, like no more then $5.00. That's what I pay now for my regular stockings. And can you but them at the drug store, or just department stores? Thanks for all your help on this ladies.
