Is it something in the air? A lot of 'conflict' on these Boards Lately

Original post by ChrissynRicky

I know I had my own share, but that's now over, but it's left a question in my mind...

'What in God's name is going on lately?'

There have been a lot of confrontations on these boards (not just '06 but others) over differences of opinions.

What ever happened to responding to the original poster, answering their question and moving on?

It just seems that everyone's at each other's eyeballs lately.

There's a HUGE difference in saying 'I don't really like it' and 'OH MY GOD, that is SOOOOO cheesy!!'

LOL, I totally agree. You can be honest but remain tactful in responses.

Not to butt in, but isnt this the reason why we have these boards??? When I ask for an opinion, I rather people tell me their ture opinion then just have everyone tell me things just because they think thats what I want to hear.

I guess the only conclusion is what our parents always taught us... If you dont have anything nice to say.. Dont say anything at all.

Firm believer in that...if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it. I hate the negativity here, we all deal with enough stress during wedding planning from other outside issues/people. I like coming here to chat with other brides in the same situation.

Now, if someone doesn't agree with my opinion, I'm not going to get all bent, and I will post my own opions even if I disagree with something. I just dislike how ridiculously mean and obnoxious some people can get.

Ok, I love the 06ers!!!! That's it.

I totally agree! If someone is that sensitive.. then they shouldn't ask for opinions because they wont be able to handle the comments. My best friend & MOH is extremely (if not THE MOST) opinionated person I know. I love when she tells me the truth. Thats why we get along.

If I post something it's b/c I need help- I want a broad range of opnions- but we can still do it in a nice way I think

I agree. I think that it is just a matter of being honest without being brutal. I think alot of the girls on here are very good at that - and all of my 'what do you think of this' posts have gotten mixed opinions (on whatever it was I posted), but all the negative opinions were posted in a kind, considerate manner.

I agree also... we all need to be respectful when posting. Be honest but remember that the poster has feelings.

i think it goes in cycles. a few weeks good, then a few weeks bad. wedding planning inevitably causes drama, everyone has their own opinion and can't understand why everyone doesn't agree with them. the problem threads are the ones like, 'what do you think of this?' or 'is this tacky?' for the record, if you have to ask, then yes, its tacky.

I have seen A LOT of conflict lately so I aggree with Christine. I do want to say: Yes, if someone asks your honest opinion and you don't like it, tell them. But there is always 2 sides to everything:

1. If the poster is asking for opinions, then expect real opinions and don't get your feathers ruffled if someone says they don't like something.

2. There is a respectful way to say you don't like something without all out attacking that person for even posting. I always find that an explanation as to why I don't like something is better than just flat out dissing it.

Just my 2 cents!!!

I think it is totally appropriate to ask 'what do you think of this' but you have to be willing to accept all responses. JMO

Ahhh!!! Case in point - Christine did yell at us for not telling her she looked like Mimi from the Drew Carey show after one of her make-up trials.

I wasn't really mad...LOL...but I definitely looked like Mimi!

Oh I know you weren't mad - but yo would have appreciated if someone would have said 'I think it's alittle too much.'

I think the bottom line is this...

If you're answering a question be honest but not mean.
