I would invite everyone with guests but hopefully if they are not dating anyone than they will not bring a date.
I have been invited to weddings and FOUND someone to bring, when I wasn't 'dating' someone. Often people don't want to come alone to a wedding. It's also a bit depressing if you are single. JMO

Re: Is it tacky......
If your single friends are self-assured, they likely will show up alone, and decline the + guest offer. If they get stressed by social situations, they may feel VERY uncomfortable to not be able to bring a social crutch (ie- a person to dance, eat, and talk with....). After all, during weddings, people have a tendency to pair up.....
Keep in mind, weddings can be awkward to singles.... from the DJ's forcing all single/divorced 30+somethings and widow(ers) participate in the bouquet/garter toss, to the 'can't bring a guest' phenomenon.

hey wendi, had to respond...
while I do agree that people over a certain age should be invited with a guest, your group of friends from high school have each other, so bringing someone might make them feel awkward if they bring someone and even if they don't. I mean, your group from high school still hangs out together all the time, so they are going to know everyone and have fun. just my opinion though- why invite those extra 30 people??? when I'm sure most people wouldn't mind. I've only heard about 1 or 2 comments from the high school group about not inviting them with a guest and it really isn't a big deal once we explained that it would be too huge of a guest list. However, if you and Chris can do it, go for it.
(for those reading- Wendi's high school group of friends is also my FH's )

We didnt invite everyone with a guest. If they didnt know anyone then we did, if they had gf or bf that we have met they are invited with a guest. I understand that Im not really the one to decide who has a real relationship or not, but Im not interested in meeting new people at my wedding-maybe im wrong for feeling that way but oh well, I cant make everyone happy all the time
I completely agree...

totally agree when you invite people alone, you automatically EXCLUDE them from so much of what goes on at weddings - no one to dance with, etc Most people dont like to go to any party alone

I personally think it's tacky if most of the crew is attached. If the majority of the group is single, then I think you can get away with it but if almost everyone has some type of significant other, you have to invite all with guests. That's JMO

you are very welcome darling! I just think because the group of friends are so close, they don't really need a guest unless it's their signifcant other. JMO.

Re: Is it tacky......
I was thinking the same thing. I decided to invite only couples that are married, engaged or dating more than 5 years! If I invite everyone with a guest, my list will have 40 plus people on it.

Re: Is it tacky......
I'm not going to invite people w/guests unless they are dating someone. My prob is that some people don't use their option for a guest well. One of my BMs seems to think she is entitled to bring whomever she wants, including a guy she was randomly sleeping with who does cocaine. I am not ok with that. She might also just randomly find a girlfriend to bring. She knows plenty of people there and will be busy w/me most of the night. Of course if they are dating someone, or don't know anybody I would include a guest. But no one at my wedding falls into that category

I think anyone over 21 should be invited with a guest - it is not for us to determine how 'serious' their relationship is or is not and adults should have the option to bring someone - Sorry, JMHO
I agree, unless you know the person is single....even then, nobody likes to go to a party alone...

I would do what you have to do. If they are good friends-they will understand.

Re: Is it tacky......
I think it is totally appropriate not to invite guests, unless someone is seriously dating or engaged.
Unless you are Donald Trump, why would you want to spend money and invite total strangers to your wedding who will appear in your pictures and have no part of your life?
A wedding is not something for strangers. This is just my opinion though

Re: Is it tacky......
sometimes people will just assume that they should bring a guest - so dont forget to take that into account
