Nope. I see no reason in having it. They arent missed if you dont have them.

Re: is it tacky?
I wouldn't say tacky but it does put the guests out a bit, it is nice to provide them with an inner envelope.

Re: is it tacky?
I wouldn't notice either way. It's not like I think back and say. 'Ooooh, ___ and ___ didn't have an inner envelope, how tacky!!!' .

Re: is it tacky?
Christy, I see that you are using Laura@ LA Productions. I know what kind of work she does because my sister used her and she is getting married their 03.30. She had a pocket in her invitations, and thats where all of the small info went. I can not express how beautifully they came out. The quality of her work and the materials she used said enough. Especially beacuse you are ordering from her, I would not give it a second thought... Inner envelope would not be missed.

Re: is it tacky?
I'm sorry I got confused about the envelopes, For some reason I thought you were talking about the return envelopes that the guests would put their replies in.

Re: is it tacky?
I guess the idea that it puts the guests out is: that most people throw away the outside envelope and then they have a nice fresh one (not ripped)
but I have received a few invites without the inner and its not a big deal at all...definitely not tacky...

Yes, that would definately be a bit odd, I haven't encountered that one before?

Re: is it tacky?
We were wondering the same thing! FH and I both despise those inner envelopes...we've never seen the point. But all of a sudden both sets of parents are very adamant that we HAVE them. What to do??

Re: is it tacky?
Well we got our invites from LA Productions yesterday.I didnt realize there were no inner envelopes. However, her work is SOOOOO beautiful that I am hoping they wont be missed, I stuffed all the invites anyway, so what's done is done. I just wanted to know if I was totally breaking the etiquette code of invites.

I think it really depends on the invitation if it needs the inner envelope. Either way I would not think tacky though.

Re: is it tacky?
We are not using inner envelopes either. Our design didn't come with them. I doubt they will be missed or it will be even noticed that they aren't there. I wouldn't worry about it Christy : ). Just make sure you remember to put 'and guest' on the outer envelope though.

Re: is it tacky?
it's not tacky, but you may need to indicate on the inner envelope who specifially is invited to the wedding. Say you send this to your aunt and uncle, who have 5 toddlers, but you don't want any kids at the reception. On the inner envelope, you'd write 'Mr and Mrs Smith' indicating (nicely!) that the kids aren't included.
Likewise, others may not know they are invited with a guest. It's not usually written on the outer envelope.

I don't think it's tacky. I have really never noticed if there was or wasn't an inner envelope until I started my own wedding planning.

Re: is it tacky?
An inner envelope is a must for me. There were a few invites that I loved, but I did not go with them because they had no inner envelope.
My reason, is I am very guest conscious. The inner envelope tells exactly who is invited and I want the least amount of confusion possible.

Re: is it tacky?
I don't think it is tacky at all. I've seen some nice invites without the inner envelope where the invite and all the cards that go with it were wrapped in a piece of velum like paper which was held on by a nice sticker.
