is it tacky to invite people to your bridal shower but not to your wedding? there are a few girls i used to work with who i wouldve definately invited to the wedding but now i only speak to them now and then, like once every couple of months. I think it would be nice though if they were atleast at the shower since I went to one of their baby showers and then a bridal (but this was also when i was still working there). What do you think?

Unfortunately, I think etiquette says that whoever is invited to the shower should be invited to the wedding so the people you invite might expect to be invited to the wedding.

I don't think you should. You should only invite people to your bridal shower who is also invited to the wedding. They will think you are only inviting them for a gift; and you don't want to come off rude.

Re: is it tacky?
I always thought if you invited someone to an e-party or bridal shower you were supposed to invite them to the wedding.
Oh yes - I would not invite anyone to my shower who I was not inviting to the wedding...

Re: is it tacky?
FH and I were invited to a Jack and Jill shower in a church basement for a co-worker (at the time) of his a few years ago. They charged $25 at t the door and had raffles throughout the night (that you had to pay for). All the money was going towards paying for the wedding.
None of the co-workers (including us) were invited to the wedding.
It was *weird*!!! I don't usually feel that way about anything, but it felt really strange to be at what felt like a charity function to pay for someone's wedding. (Especially one we never went to.)
I'm just glad someone said not to bring a gift! I would've felt even more foolish then.
I hope they had a wonderful wedding, don't get me wrong, but it was a one-of-a-kind experience.
If you want to celebrate with your co-workers, I suggest going out to drinks with them after work one night, not inviting them to your eparty if you're not planning to have them at your wedding.

I think it is hurtful more so than tacky. The people may think you just invited them for the gift. I understand your sentiment and real meanings though!

Yup, definitely don't invite them to the shower if they're not invited to the wedding.
