I have some single people in the family that would bring along some complete stranger just to bring someone.
I want my wedding more intimate. Is it wrong not to offer a plus one?
Thanks

There's nothing wrong with inviting people without a guest! It's your wedding and you should have the people there that you really want there. It's totally fine!

If our guests weren't in a serious relationship, we did not invite them with a guest.. and it was totally cool with everyone

No, it is not tacky. You just have to be sure to be consistent with the and guests.
On a side note, every person I invited with 'and guest' who did not have a regular significant other is NOT bringing a date.

I didnt invite any single person with a guest - unless they didn't know anyone, then I realize they will have more fun with a friend. I dont think it's tacky.

It is totally fine to not invite and guest. It is your wedding and you can do what you want. We are not inviting and guest either unless they are in a serious relationship.

We only invited guests for single folks if they were in a relationship, except for the bridal party. The BP were given more leeway and invited with guests.

Thanks ladies. If they have other friends to entertain them I don't think I will offer a plus one!
If they don't, then I will.

I gave everyone the option of a guest. And no one chose to bring a random. Singles are just coming by themselves. But you never know, your guests may be diff and may choose to bring along a friend or date. Who knows. Its really up to you. I personally think everyone above 18 should be offered the option of having a guest. JMO!!

Unless you know that someone is in a long term relationship or living together, it is your wedding and you should do what you want! It is not tacky!

Nothing wrong with that. The only time I would tell someone to invite with a guest is when say it is a work friend who will not know anyone else there. Totally fine! My rule was if your not in a commited relationship by the time the invites go out, no guest!

Re: Is it tacky not to offer a plus one????
we went back and forth with this a couple weeks ago. FH insisted that we take off the 'and guest' for people we knew were not going to bring one we reduced it by 10 guests (which adds up) i think if its going to save alot of money then why not
