Is it tacky not to offer a plus one????

Original post by Regal Beagle

I have some single people in the family that would bring along some complete stranger just to bring someone.

I want my wedding more intimate. Is it wrong not to offer a plus one?

Thanks

I didn't invite unless they were sertious with someone. It's just too much and people do understand. I would have loved to but it would have doubled our already huge numbers.

I guess I'm one of the odd ones out on this one ....

We are inviting all the single adults with a guest.

If our guests weren't in a serious relationship, we did not invite them with a guest.. and it was totally cool with everyone

This is what we did too.

This was such a major sore point...
I had a friend who is VERY single and brought a guest just to bring someone. BUT....he's a good friend & doesn't know any one else at the wedding...so OK.

I had 2 couples not bring their husbands.

I had 2 familes bring people 'in place' of others...which ANGERED me big time.

But, when it came down to it: the list stayed at an even number.

I am only inviting the BP with a plus one, regardless if they have a significant other or not. Everyone else will be invited with a plus one if they are engaged or dating that person for a long time. I don't think it's tacky to not do plus one at all!! You guys have to pay for it! Do as you please, sweetie!

I'm only inviting single people with a guest if they are over 30 and/or are dating someone. I don't want random people at my wedding either.
