When we ordered our invites, we didn't have an exact finalized guest list, so we opted to just get our return address printed on the envelope.
Can we use clear mailing labels with a nice font to put on the front of the envelope?
If it's tacky, what do you think we should do? The lady in the invite store said we can hand write them, but both myself and my fiance have poor handwriting.
Any ideas/feedback?
TIA

Do you have a laser printer that you can print directly on the envelopes???

Re: Is it tacky to.....
Let me know if you need any help -- I printed mine directly on the envelopes and I think they came out great. I didn't have lining though.
I was told a hundred times that labels were a HUGE no-no. I usually just ignore everyone and do what I want, but I listened in this case. I still may use the labels for the thank-yous.

I had the same problem. I actually found Pippy Sweets who addressed all of mine (150) in 5 business days for really cheap. I mean CHEAP! All you do is mail her your envelopes and she prints on them and sends them back to you. FM me if you need more details but trust me that its ALOT less stressful then trying to print them yourselves. I tried it both ways :) You can see my envelopes in my DIY folder.

I am using clear mailing labels. I did some and it looks better than hand written.

We did the clear labels with pink writing and they came out fabulous. You could barely tell that they were labels.

What about printing directly onto the envelopes instead of using labels? Personally I think that would look better.
My sister and like all my family have done this since from the printer or having someone due it cost so much $$
It is really simple and if we can do it,(we cant even draw a straight line with a ruler)anyone can

I think you should definitely try to print them out directly from the printer... do some test runs.. once you have a default set, it'll be (hopefully) smooth sailing from there. I think clear labels are not the nicest looking things and not very formal IMO.
ITA... I wouldn't use the clear labels... either print from the computer or have a professional write them out.

Re: Is it tacky to.....
Even though i had the guest list finalized, I still didn't have all of their addresses when I ordered the invites. Rather than waiting & risking us ordering them too late (which is even more tacky to not give then enough RSVP time) we just had our return address printed on the envelopes and clear labels made. It was the same exact font as was printed on the envelope, so it looked awesome.
Hey, ya gotta do what ya gotta do!! But personally I don't think it's tacky at all. And if your guests think it is, then who cares? Those envelopes just get thrown away anyhow. It's not a big deal.

I don't think it is tacky at all... it's an envelope, it's going to get ripped open and thrown in the good ole' garbage, lol.

I agree with the folks who said to use clear labels - I'm probably going to do that as well. If people notice it, then they have WAY too much time on their hands...

Calligraphers now do computer calligraphy - so they print the addresses on the envelopes for you. It's totally worth paying to have it done.

You can also bring the extra envelopes to a print shop and have them print the return addresses on them. You can also get a calligrapher to do it as well....or get a friend or bridesmaid who can handle a calligraphy pen well to do it for you.
I'm looking into a calligrapher but time and money are going to be an issue for me at this point.

I just sent out my invites and used clear labels. They didnt look bad and I dont think anone even noticed!
I agree with what you're saying...my wedding RH is where the most money is being spent and I picked the top of the line package. Invitations are not really where I feel my money and time should be spent. I will try to print on them, but I have nicely lined and thick envelopes and a garbage printer.

I've received a few wedding invites that were done with clear labels. First of all, your guests will probably not even notice that there is a clear label (unless they're very picky) and secondly, it really doesn't look bad at all! If it's really not for you, what about enlisting the help of your MOH or BP? They might be able to help. As for me, I plan on having my mother do them! She has great handwriting.
Good feedback...thanks!

I only have 2-3 weeks to get them in the mail. How does this work...do I mail my envelopes to them? This makes me nervous, b/c they are really nice envelopes.
