Is it tacky to.....

Original post by duggdugg1

When we ordered our invites, we didn't have an exact finalized guest list, so we opted to just get our return address printed on the envelope.

Can we use clear mailing labels with a nice font to put on the front of the envelope?

If it's tacky, what do you think we should do? The lady in the invite store said we can hand write them, but both myself and my fiance have poor handwriting.

Any ideas/feedback?

TIA

i used clear labels from staples - and it looked fine...

Okay...just in case the other things don't work for me, I will do the same. I don't want my invite to look cheap, but I don't really have the time to run around over invites!

I am using clear mailing labels. I did some and it looks better than hand written.

Yeah I think the same thing, handwritten is more tacky to me...at least with clear the labels I can match the font to my return address's I had printed on already. Thank You!

Even though i had the guest list finalized, I still didn't have all of their addresses when I ordered the invites. Rather than waiting & risking us ordering them too late (which is even more tacky to not give then enough RSVP time) we just had our return address printed on the envelopes and clear labels made. It was the same exact font as was printed on the envelope, so it looked awesome.

Hey, ya gotta do what ya gotta do!! But personally I don't think it's tacky at all. And if your guests think it is, then who cares? Those envelopes just get thrown away anyhow. It's not a big deal.

hahaha yeah exactly...my friends and family know me well enough that my wedding will not be low-budget...my invites on the other hand, they can care less about. They all have the date marked on their calendars!!

I agree with the folks who said to use clear labels - I'm probably going to do that as well. If people notice it, then they have WAY too much time on their hands...

Hahaha...You girls sound a lot like me...I'm so sick of hearing about etiquette. Who came up with this stuff? LOL

I've been thinking about the label debate - what about instead of doing clear labels which look like you're TRYING to print on clear labels, you do a decorative label that 'makes a statement' so it looks like you did it on purpose?
