When we ordered our invites, we didn't have an exact finalized guest list, so we opted to just get our return address printed on the envelope.
Can we use clear mailing labels with a nice font to put on the front of the envelope?
If it's tacky, what do you think we should do? The lady in the invite store said we can hand write them, but both myself and my fiance have poor handwriting.
Any ideas/feedback?
TIA

I was actually thinking on doing the same thing. My handwriting is horrible and I just cant bring myself to pay someone to write them out

What about printing directly onto the envelopes instead of using labels? Personally I think that would look better.

I was thinking of doing this, but I'm also nervous, I will mess them up bc they are lined and I've never printed on an envelope before. Hehehe....I will have to do a trial run on plain envelopes and take it from there!
I have about 2 weeks to get them done and in the mail!!!! YIPEEEEE!!!!!

I think you should definitely try to print them out directly from the printer... do some test runs.. once you have a default set, it'll be (hopefully) smooth sailing from there. I think clear labels are not the nicest looking things and not very formal IMO.

That's what I did. Paying someone to do this is just something I can't see myself doing!

You can also bring the extra envelopes to a print shop and have them print the return addresses on them. You can also get a calligrapher to do it as well....or get a friend or bridesmaid who can handle a calligraphy pen well to do it for you.

If yuou can print directly on the envelope i thnk its much nicer than clear labels.IMO
Would you consider digital calligraphy? InkSpun.com costs 39cents an invite... saves you the headache and the cost of ink, test envelopes. Just a thought. I am afraid of my printer/computer so I think I am going to use them

I have horrible handwriting and couldn't justify the cost of a calligrapher. I printed directly on the labels using Word. Just set up a custom envelope and feed into the printer. It took like 15 minutes and it came out great. I used Edwardian Script as my font.

I've received a few wedding invites that were done with clear labels. First of all, your guests will probably not even notice that there is a clear label (unless they're very picky) and secondly, it really doesn't look bad at all! If it's really not for you, what about enlisting the help of your MOH or BP? They might be able to help. As for me, I plan on having my mother do them! She has great handwriting.

just be careful because usually lined envelopes don't run through regular printers

I think this is the best option. I've done it before and will prob do it for our wedding as well.

Why not download a nice font and print them - im sorry but to me on a wedding invitation there should not be any type of label. JMO

I think some people are really picky about their envelopes. We are DIYing our invitations and probably going to go with clear labels. It's not a huge deal for me, and the envelopes don't go through the printer. I think it's a personal choice. I say yes, but I know A LOT of girls would say no

You can print directly on them. I did that with my invites and my cousin's engagement invites and they turned out great. Just do a mail merge in Excel.
