Is it too soon to try on dresses????

Original post by neesiepie

A few people told me its too soon to start looking, since I'm not getting married for another yr and a half. The only thing is, it's SO MUCH FUN trying on dresses.....
but what if i find a dress NOW and a new style comes out in, say, September of this year????
How early did you ladies start looking?
I feel like it's pointless for me to even start going...but I already started and now I can't stop!

Re: Is it too soon to try on dresses????

I started shopping for my dress way too early. I was extremely anxious to start looking and I found something I thought I loved and I ordered, this was in Jan. 03 for my Sept. 04 wedding. It was actually quite stupid of me. I ended up seeing a million things afterwards that gave me severe doubts about my dress. I ended up changing my order in late November of 03. Thank god my wedding salon was able to accomodate me. Now, when I see my original dress I truly don't know what I was thinking. It worked out for me in the end, but personally I would wait until about a year before to start trying on.

I ordered my gown two weeks after we were engaged.. approx. 14 months before the wedding.. It was the one thing I suggest you give yourself ample time to do.. with teh wedding coming around and all teh little things still left to do, you want to have a clear head and no stress when picking out your gown..

Good lluck!

I don't think it's too early, but be sure you love your dress before ordering so you don't second-guess yourself!

Never too soon, when its the one, you'll know and if it feels right now it most likely will next month and the month after that too

It's never to soon! Go have fun! If you find the dress, go for it, BUT stop looking from then on! LOL I ordered my dress in February of 03' and I am this November. If you see something you fall in love with, and you don't get it, you risk it being discontinued. Go for it!

No way! That was my favorite part!

Have fun with it! Since you have plenty of time you won't feel pressured to make a decision.

It's never too early to start, especially if you go into it with the attitude that you don't have to find anything! It's a stress-free experience the more time you have! I ordered my dress in July 03 for my Nov 04 wedding, and despite my fears, I am not in the least bit tired of my dress. I don't feel like I am missing out on new dresses and I know my dress is perfect for me.... so go! Have fun!
