Re: is it weird to be at the ****tail hour?
We were at our cocktail hour and I don't regret it for a second. We got to speak to a lot of guests and hold entire conversations with them. We didn't have to see everyone at the reception, instead we were able to sit at our table and talk and enjoy it! I also think this made the day go a little slower as well. I totally recommend doing that.

Re: is it weird to be at the ****tail hour?
We were at our cocktail hour as well and I don't regret it either. I said I wasn't going to attend, but when the day got here...I was so excited to be the 'bride' I just wanted to see and talk to everyone. I made most of my rounds during the cocktail hour which allowed us to dance more during the reception.I don't regret it for a minute. I only went to the last half hour though because I ate in the bridal suite first. That will be the only time you eat that night!!

Re: is it weird to be at the ****tail hour?
We attended most of our cocktail hour and Im sooo glad we did! First, you get to see all of your hard work. Second, you get to actually talk to (instead of just saying high and collecting an envelope) all of the guests you really want to spend time with. There was no way in hell that I was missing it!

Re: is it weird to be at the ****tail hour?
thanks for the advice - I am going to do it. We can't have a receiving line at the Cathedral so this will be a good time for that - I don't want to miss a minute!

Re: is it weird to be at the ****tail hour?
Definitely attend at least part of the cocktail hr. Our bridal attendant arranged plates of food for us and brought us down to the bridal suite to eat alone....but we ate really fast so we could run back to attend cocktail (so we probably spent a half hour at the cocktail hr). It was a great way to spend some time with guests and see the presentation you worked so hard to plan as sonicstef commented. I think most brides and grooms attend now since most pay for their own weddings.

Re: is it weird to be at the ****tail hour?
FH and I are totally against us or the bridal party doing it, but that's only because being introduced into the ballroom as husband and wife is one of the things we're (mostly FH) really looking forward to.. But I've been to weddings where the couple has been tothe cocktail and I see nothing wrong with it..

Re: is it weird to be at the ****tail hour?
We were at part of ours (taking pics during the other part). I was glad we were it gave us a chance to mingle a bit more since we didn't get too much done during the reception - everyone was up dancing most of the night!

Re: is it weird to be at the ****tail hour?
FH and I are also signing away our firstborn for this wedding, and we want to be there- mainly b/c we have so many out of towners, we want to be able to say hi to everyone. FFIL is vehemently opposed, saying 'It just isn't done' (which, let me tell ya, ladies, I'm getting realllllllllly tired of), but FH wants to do it, and so do I, so screw it. We're going to!

We will be there for our cocktail hour. We are paying a lot of money for this wedding and we want to enjoy every minute of it. I also think that its nice because we can have a chance to talk to everyone then so we'll have more time to enjoy the party later.

Re: is it weird to be at the ****tail hour?
When my brother got married several years ago, him and his wife didn't make their cocktail hour and I think he regrets it now. All the expense that goes into it, you should enjoy every minute of it.

Re: is it weird to be at the cocktail hour?
I want to be at my cocktail hour but my FH is against it. He's family is very traditional and nobody is suppose to tsee the bride until they are annouced at the reception. I hope I eventually win this battle. But even if I don't go to the cocktail hor I am getting all my family pictures done at that time because under no circumstance am I being pulled out of my reception for formal pictures.I want to dance and eat and take in the day.

My Mom told me it was awful when she was forced to wait for over an hour in a room while everyone was having fun during her cocktail hour. I will be there with bells on!

Re: is it weird to be at the cocktail hour?
We didnt attend ours. We wanted a big build up for our entrance. Our bridal attendant brought us all the food we choose for the cocktail hour and it was nice to sit and relax after being on your feet all day.

Re: is it weird to be at the cocktail hour?
My husband and I were at our cocktail hour and I'm do glad we did that. We had a lot of people that had to travel to get there so we really wanted to spend as much time as we could with them. We went up to our own room about ten minutes before we were announced so we got to sit down and freshen up then. And then we were able to really enjoy our reception.

Re: is it weird to be at the cocktail hour?
I definatley plan on being at out cocktail hour. I like that I'll get a better chance to talk to more of our guests. It's part of the reason I want to do our pictures before hand.

Re: is it weird to be at the cocktail hour?
We will be at our cocktail hour as well. At first, I wanted to be traditional, and hide in the bridal suite. But then I saw 1.) how much it's all costing us, and 2.) the food we are getting at the cocktail hour. But it's a personal choice
