What do you think? I know it looks great but is it worth it?

By hand - yes, by computer for inner and outer I've seen them as low 1.15 for both.

you can also do it on the computer if you have a good printer and font - looks just as nice

They quoted me $5/envelope. Some are pretty but definitely look at the samples. I did not like the caligraphers I viewed. They were too large and not the pretty caligraphy I remember seeing. A good option in the computerized caligraphy -- usually much cheaper. It is so pretty and very clean -- probably faster, too. And if you supply on a disk sometimes it is even less expensive.

If you want real caligraphy, I cannot stress enough seeing samples. Then see sample of computerized caligraphy. Beautiful font choice for the computerized is Op Citadel. Or match the typestyle of your invitation text.

If this is by hand I was quoted 3.00 per envelope. However my mom's friend ended up doing it for us and only charged us a minimal fee.

It is all personal choice. I opted for hand calligraphy.

If we do it on the computer we can do it, so it would be free. I love the idea of it being FREE. However I don't know if it is such a noticable difference to do the caligraphy and worth paying the extra $$.

I was debating both too - hand-written so elegant, but honestly I bought ClipArt Fonts 2 at Staples for $15 and found a font that matches my invitation EXACTLY, it looks beautiful and very professional. Just give it a shot, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Just cut copy paper as the size of the envelope and do a sample with your name.

we did ours on the computer. Found a really nice font and that was it. so much easier and cheaper in the long run. especially if you have last minute people you want to invite.

Calligraphy was one of the places I wanted to keep the budget as low as possible -- it just wasn't important to me. So, no I don't think its worth $1.50 an envelope for Calligraphy. I hired Inkspun which was so easy and cheap.

Am I the only one who wants to handwrite it and WORST case print some labels??

To me, calligraphy was not worth the expense, I am probably going with Inkspun as well.

I think $1.50 per envelope is a fair price and I definitely think it is worth it. I will difinitely have hand calligraphy done on my envelopes.

anyplace that charges 1-2 per envelope is doing it on a computer anyway. If saving the cash means allot to you just do them yourself on the computer. I did them myself and they cam out great.
You cant tell the difference as long as you have a good printer.

I did my own envelopes, I have a nice printer, and I am good at working it. I couldn't afford callygraphy so I did not care about doing it myself

IMHO, it's a personal choice for hand caligraphy for inner and outer envelopes. We did ours using clear address labels by Avery #5663 for US address and Avery #8660 for foreign and large addresses. We refuse to hand write 250 inner and outer envelopes by hand. Our envelopes would not fit through our printer. We wanted to save money and opt for clear labels rather than hiring a caligrapher.

Do you have to write anything on the inner envelope? Is it wrong to leave it blank?

IMO - its a waste. I did mine on my computer in a fancy font and got so many compliments on them. I even did the inner envelopes and people could not believe that I spent money to have this done

If you have the money and really want it - go for it!
